This is a redesign of one of my favorite lights. It’s superlight, extra-small, waterproof to 1m, and the lithium batteries last a long time in an emergency kit.If you own any of the previous models, be aware that the not only has the headband/storage case changed back from the retractable headband to the red plastic case but that the cluster of LEDs has been replaced by a single white LED and an offset red LED.The new LEDs have different run stats, as well. This newest version has lower runtimes and higher lumens. The white light is “cooler” (closer to the blue end of the spectrum) and the beam has a shorter range, but a higher flood, than the previous models. This is the third generation of the product that I own. I carry the previous version with me in my backpack everywhere as it offers more quick convenience. This one will stay in my emergency kit to be used as necessary as it is a bit of a pain to remove/replace the light in the case. While not as convenient as the retractable headband in the previous model it is definitely more comfortable to wear.I have not, yet, been able to successfully store this in the included case without separating the headband from the light body (because I don’t want to stretch out the headband prematurely). This is the reason why it got four stars from me, instead of five.I’ve attached some pics for the first time every so I don’t know if I’ll be able to caption them. Previous version on the left and the new version is on the right. First pic light pic is of a cereal box appx 18″ away. Second pic of white wall appx 15′ away.edit: After using the 2017 version of this light for the last week I can confidently say that, while good, I prefer the previous version of this light. The more focused beam of the older model suits my needs better (even if the lumens are lower) as the beam travels further with a more neutral tone. It is also easier to distinguish color. The headband of the newer version is far more comfortable, though. If Petzl ever reads this, I’d like to recommend a revival of the metal clip (so you can affix the light to a cap or strap) that existed in the last, last version of this light.

This is an exceptional product. I purchased it to use as a spare on back country outings where weight is a serious issue. For anyone who has ever done a remote trip with a weight allowance for air movement or a back country hike, they can understand that every ounce matters. I agonize over my gear – which my wife constantly criticizes wondering if using her kitchen scale and spreadsheets to count ounces is actually necessary. Over the years I’ve gotten things down to precisely what I need, and it’s rare I add anything to my kit. This light made the cut – it delivered that beautiful blend of performance and weight. It’s incredibly light and yet it performs on par with much sturdier units powered by a more robust set of batteries. The protective case it comes with makes storing it in my kit as an emergency back-up easy and having it there gives me peace of mind. I don’t go hunting, hiking, camping, or fishing without this piece of equipment. In fact, I li

My use case: I bought this for hiking and camping. Some times it is nice to be able to go that last mile or two after the sun sets without worrying about how you’ll set up your tent in the pitch black woods or tripping on a root. I got this to fill that need.Build quality seems great so far. I will update this review in the future if anything comes up. But it seems like it is sturdily constructed while maintaining a light weight. The audible/tactile clicks on the light selection switch are confidence inspiring about its durability. The headband is just wide and long enough. It’s soft and comfortable and the adjustment is as easy as pinching the adjuster and pulling the band through to suit your head size.I can’t personally speak to its battery life yet, but from all reviews I’ve seen it is very good. I would tend to believe that it is, considering its “low” lumen output (I think its output entirely adequate). This headlamp is best summed up as simple and minimalist without sacrificing crucial functionality. A perfect balance in my opinion for what I need it for.

I’m not normally a fan of head lamps but this one caught my eye when I noticed it as part of a survival kit on YouTube (one of ESEE’s maybe?). The price seemed fair so I ordered 2 of them. I was quite surprised with how functional and lightweight these little lights are. I wanted something small that was easy to carry and forget about and these fit the bill perfectly. I don’t have a lot of miles on them yet but the batteries are cheap and plentiful, the container is waterproof, and they weigh almost nothing. I’m pleased so far.

Red light perfect brightness for night flight. Zero compromise for night vision, because it is dim.Just enough for when the instrument panel lights decide to quit. You keep instruments in view and everything outside looks the same.Con: i put a thin piece of foil in the CR2033 battery bay so the battery seats with firm contact. Perfect ever since.

I just got this lamp, so I can’t possibly report on battery life or long term durability. But I can tell you why I instantly fell in love with this thing!REASON FOR PURCHASE: For exactly what it is – an emergency back-up light source.ACTIVITY: Casual backpacking – never on trail after darkMy primary light source is a rechargeable Fenix headlamp, which has more than enough burn time to get me through a multi-day backpacking trip. However, I was still carrying a spare charged battery just in case……That spare battery weighs 0.7 oz. It has no other function. Just hangs out….This E+lite, on the other hand, only weighs 0.9 oz. (without the case). AND it can actually DO stuff!*It’s a stand alone spare lamp. And it even has a fold out stand if you like.*It has safety strobe modes in both white and red (which my primary lamp does not).*AND it has a whistle! A whistle that is smaller, louder, and clearer than the 0.3 oz whistle I was already carrying on my pack.

Nice headband, but less compact than the old retractable one. The swivel pivot ball is COMPLETELY TERRIBLE. Totally loose. If you so much as nod your head too quickly it slides up and down like a seesaw. They “almost” completely ruined this product. All said. If you can’t get the old one, this is still a viable tiny backup headlamp for close vision or in a tent. It can swivel on directly into white light or red. It has a nice signal strobe and great battery life.
