The ergonomic 60 tooth Kraftform ratcheting bit-holding screwdriver provides fast, powerful and convenient screwdriving action. The 1/4" adaptor accepts any standard insert or power bits. The ratchet locks in either direction, as well as in the center or neutral position.

Wera Kraftform 816 RA Bitholding Ratcheting Screwdriver, 1/4" Head

High quality bit holder. Includes a ratchet: fine-toothing with a small return angle, switchover (right, fixed, left), maximum torque of up to 50 Newton metres. The Rapidaptor quick-release chuck enables rapid bit change without needing any special tools. The strong permanent magnet holds the bits absolutely securely. Kraftform Plus handle for pleasant, ergonomic working that makes blisters and calluses a thing of the past. Hard gripping zones for high working speeds whereas soft zones ensure high torque transfer. Suitable for bits with 1/4" hexagon head drive as per DIN ISO 1173-C 6.3 and E 6.3 (ISO 1173).

I’m a fan boy for sure if their products but this screwdriver lacks what the other tools bring. Ease of use, comfort, quality and value. It’s awkward to use. The torque on the the speed setting is all but non existent except for much smaller, lighter jobs and it’s a always a 2 handed tool if you want to use the speed feature. Furthermore the press button at the top to activate the speed chuck is inconsistent in how it engages and disengages.Overall for me it’s a superb concept but I will have no use for it in its current configuration. Hopefully their next generation will see some dramatic improvements. This tool is far outweighed by a lightly powered screw driver with a good magnetic bit holder.

Gave it 5 stars for durability, to be honest I have only had this for 3 weeks but it appears to be well built. The fit is perfect for me, the ratcheting system seems to use fine teeth and it works just “fine”. Overall this is a very well built tool and now is 1 of 2 of my favorite go to screwdrivers.*The bonus here is it’s ability to except any 1/4” slotted extender, this allows me to combine most it not all of my 1/4” tool bits/sets.

Wera makes excellent tools and their Ratcheting Screwdriver has become a favorite of mine. The gearing is smooth and never slips, no matter how much torque I apply. It won't roll off the counter and bit changes are a breeze. I would like for a slightly larger handle but this is still the best ratcheting screwdriver I've found.
Great replacement for multiple screwdrivers in your tool belt.

Great replacement for multiple screwdrivers in your tool belt. I purchased long (4-6") bits. Great for terminal strips when your troubleshooting possible loose connections. Also when you damage the tip, just replace the cheap bit. I keep multiples on hand. Apply heat shrink to the shaft of the bit for protection from incidental contact with another circuit or wire.

The rapidaptor is good. The shaft has minor wobble that goes into the switching mechanism so if you use an extension the wobble is increased as well. some people may want that flex to reach fastners that are further away at an angle. When you go to turn a screw the shaft has turning play like there is more backlash than needed in between the gear teeth. The switching mechanism is a little screwy, I've noticed when I apply torque to the shaft when it is in the locked position and try switching it to the left side it does not want to click into gear I cant even force it, I have to switch it to the right side first then switch back to the left in order to fully shift the mechanism into place. I think the excessive backlash in between the teeth may be responsible for that. The handle does feel great and the whole driver looks nice but for the price I think tighter tolerances should be factored into the shaft and gear teeth.

The handle grip is slightly smaller and thinner than the traditional style, but actually feels more comfortable in your hand. The ratcheting mechanism is smooth and sturdy. For its medium sized handle, it is heavier than it looks, due to the metal parts inside, which to me, speaks for itself about its durability, when compared to the other cheaper plastic ratchet screwdrivers. It holds standard 1/4" hex base bits. It did not come with any bits or extension adapters, only the ratcheting handle, which was fine by me, because I already have plenty of bits and adapters that I can use for it. The nice feature about this screwdriver that make it stand out from other models is that this one actually has a lock mechanism to actually lock the bit in place, instead of the popular magnetic grip that often fails to hold tight to the bit. To unlock the bit, pull the collar up, insert it withdraw the bit, then push the collar back down to lock the bit in place. The ratcheting feature has a knob (located just below the locking mechanism) that twists left and right to switch the rachet from clockwise to counterclockwise as needed. The center setting turns off the ratchet feature, so that you can use it as a manual screwdriver. I love, love, love this screwdriver! And I was surprised how hard it was to find! Many screwdrivers don't have a ratchet feature, and most of the ones that do, are cheap, flimsy, or of the magnetic grip style, which I find to be difficult to work with.I do think it might be nice if there were some options on this model, like a couple of different size handles to choose from, or the inclusion of an adapter or two, or some bits for those consumers who do not have those items already.
