Addi has the reputation for having great products, so I felt safe ordering this new AddiEgg. The machine arrived quickly from Germany. I started making I-cord with it. However, I only got two days of usage out of the machine, because of two problems. First, no matter what yarn I tried, following Addi’s recommendations and directions, it would become a tangled mess in the machine. Second, the needles are very fragile and break easily. I contacted The seller to get their advice on what I should do, hoping for technical advice. I described the problems with the seller. The representative had me email her a picture of the broken needle, and then she told me that she would be talking to the manufacturer, and that she would be back in touch when she knew what they want to do. It’s been a month now, and I haven’t heard anything. I spent $40 on this device, which really should have functioned better than it did. My problem has not been solved. I would not make this
It doesn't work - period!

I bought in combo with the Addi pro - the pro works great! However, I tried to work with the egg, every time whatever type yarn I tried it ended up in a big mess. Left it for a while came back to it hoping maybe it would work - doesn't! Same big mess -I am done trying to work with this thing. I could've done my work by hand twice over. Don't waste your money -this thing needs to be revamped or discontinued!Had to atleast give 1 star to post my review, I wasn't going to give any - hoping to keep others from wasting their money

I think mine must've been a dud, with needle slots being perhaps too loose; whenever there was any yarn on the egg, the needles would not drop drop back down to knit the stitches. It never behaved like any of the ones I saw in the online videos. The only way I could get it to make an i-cord was to push every single stitch down with my fingers as it reached the point where it should fall down. Obviously, this is not really any faster than just knitting an i-cord.
A lovely machine that gets too much bad press

I bought this to use to turn thinner yarn into jumbo yarn to make chunky knits (blankets/pillows) So far, I have had zero issues with this machine. I have no idea why it gets so much bad press. I first tried to use a heavier weight 4 yarn with it, and realized after a few cranks that would be a no go. I switched to a lighter yarn and had a jumbo ball of yarn in no time at all.One tip that I wish someone would have told me: when you're using it to make a continuous long cord, roll the cord into a ball as you go. The yarn has a tendency to twist up the longer the cord gets. The first time I tried I had a big ol' twisted mess and I had to keep stopping to untwist it. Now I roll as I go and use a small binder clip to keep it from unraveling. The good thing is your ball eventually becomes heavy enough to act as its own weight. Happy cranking!!

this item is not as described. the yarn gets tangled and does not produce an even cord as expected. it is not worth spending the money on this item. getting or making your own spool with pegs would at least ensure you are producing an even cord the whole time. i don't think this is worth the money i spent and I expected better from a german product.update: i have been trying to do a return for the last two weeks. the seller is being very unreasonable. yes, under non virus lockdown conditions i would print a return label and have it returned but I don't own a printer and the local library is again on lock down because denver has an increase in virus cases and it may get even more strict after the holidays until May sometime. all i want is the seller to ask UPS to bring a label and take the return with them. how hard is that?
Do not buy an Addi 6 hook I cord knitter

I bought an Addi 6 hook I cord knitter thru the Woolery, I threaded up the knitter, checking the instructions, the 6 hook made 2 small I cords, about 2 feet long, so I started on a 3rd Icord, same yarn different color, the knitter jammed and striped its gears, I sent it back to the woolery, I was told from the Woolery that I would be getting a 'NEW' machine as a replacement. The machine they sent had two broken hooks, a third hook had a fracture on the back of the hook, and the crank was very hard to turn. Obviously not a new machine, I sent it back for a refund. This is a true review, I have reported to you my true experience with the Addi 6 hook I cord knitting machine and with The Woolery. You can draw your own conclusion from this review about the Addi I cord machine and with The Woolery.

UPDATE:I originally gave 1 star after numerous tries with different weight/material of yarn. I finally found the "perfect" one that works for this. Valley Yarns Superwash Sport, Sport Weight Yarn, 100% Extra Fine Merino - Black at6 to 6.5 sts = 1" on US 3 to 5. This was finally able to knit smoothly. I still had to turn the knob slow steady, making sure to listen and feel for clogging and crunching noises (if the fibers got stuck.) The yarn is pretty soft and smooth and the twist seems tight enough for it to not be eaten by the needles or any other toothy bits from the egg. I didn't bother to use the plastic dome nor the crank--just turned the knob. Another helpful thing is to make sure your feeding yarn is loose enough--check it every now and then. The little weight will help with tension. Sometimes I do have to start all over again--it really is tricky seeing if there are any errors and then have to turn the knob backwards.OLD REVIEW:This is easy to cast on, BUT when you finally get it to crank, it makes a huge mess. I tried super thin weights that's barely yarn, but more like tinsel and I tried 2 types of yarn--one was more like a soft wool and the other was a tighter winding on the yarn. I will try some more--the other yarns I tried were relatively thin. I couldn't get that to push down into the hole like normal nancies because all of it just stayed on top. If I pulled, it would possibly rip the threading yarn connected to the egg weight. I think the key is to actually use something like string that's not made from airy twists or braid...something internally solid in the "yarn" or string. The problem is that the device will split up my yarn when it tries to bring it down and then up and over the red prongs and things. If I don't watch it, then it will bite and break and not follow the others. Somewhere it said to use a specific kind of yarn. I will try again.

Yarn tends to get caught around needles, which stops progress. Had to cut away 3 attempts.Top of needle broke. No replacement of needles. It became junk very quickly
Good though not perfect.

I also have both of the larger addi's and the embellish knit Icord maker and think all the machines are great once you figure out their quirks, this little guy is no different. There are a couple of things I would change for sure (the handle likes to fall off but you can use the gear on the side without the handle, and the thread holder on front is a hassle to thread, but I just cut through the plastic on one side and just slip the thread in now) but once you learn the pitfalls of what can go wrong you learn to spot and fix them early on. Once done this machine gives you a much larger Icord that opens up new creative possibilities! I really like it! The picture shows the Icord for the embellish knit machine on the right, compared to the Icord from the addi egg on the left so you can compare the sizes.
