Since I started working with natural fibers like silk and bamboo, I had issues with my work slipping off the Bates Silvalume hooks I've been using with acrylic yarns for 40 years. After watching reviews of different hooks, I decided to give these Pryms a try.After making a sweater and a tote bag with the Prym hook, I can say that these hooks hold yarnovers and loops securely. They are warm to the touch without being sticky. They are longer, so the butt end of the hook extends away from my hand, allowing the hook to roll easier as I pull through the stitch. Cotton and cotton blend yarns can be really splitty, but I haven't had a problem with these hooks getting caught in the fibers.Two issues I had were that I crochet looser with the longer neck of the Prym, so I have to go down a hook size to meet gauge. I also find it odd that they don't make F, I, or K hooks with the same plastic/silicone construction. I had no problem at all with the seam at the base of the n

I didn’t like these as much as my Tulip Etimo hooks. But they are very lightweight and smooth. I used them with acrylic yarn and it was squeaky. Perhaps a cotton or wool would glide more smoothly. Slightly longer handle makes them good for larger hands.

These hooks are very comfortable and have a great grip. I crochet holding the hook in both pencil grip and knife grip, depending on the stitch. These hooks feel good either way.I generally work a tight stitch and there's a squeak with these hooks but once I got used to using them I loosened my stitch and they're perfect.The head is a little more pointed than others so they great for small, tight stitches.I'm working on a Amiguruni stuffed animal 'lovey' for my niece's baby shower and the stitch is very tight using 100% cotton. Because I'm putting a bit of stress on the hook I'm beginning to see where the head is attached to the grip. (Second pic.) My fear is that it will break at the join but if it does I'll come back and update my review.For now I'm 100% satisfied!!!
I like them-- just use them with wool, though.

They're nice. I don't regret my purchase. However, using them with any of the big fibers but wool is not fun.Acrylic and cotton both catch and squeak on these hooks. Wool is more expensive than cotton or acrylic so I don't get to use them hooks often. But when I do they're very comfortable, even for this knifer.

This was the first "real" set of crochet hooks I got, in that I spent decent money for them instead of paying $10 for a set of 10 hooks, and turns out it actually makes a difference. They're lightweight and easy to hold, and for most yarns I work with (which I believe is polyester, acrylic, and cotton) it's like butter, as the kids say. It made crocheting go from an "ehh" activity for me to one I do regularly now.I damaged my 5mm hook (it's my fault, don't throw your hooks and blades in the same bag) and I'm actually going out of my way to replace the singular hook despite having multiple other 5mms I could work with, I love them that much.

I first bought the set of smaller hooks, and after using them to finish a project, I went back and bought the large set! I love the longer neck the Prym hooks have compared to other brands, giving products with multiple loops on the hook plenty of space. The neck is smooth and yarn doesn’t stick. The head is a mixture between in-line and tapered, leaning a little more on the in-line side for those who prefer it. It has a sharp head for getting into tight stitches and a deep groove keeping your yarn on the hook. I switch between a pencil and knife grip and the handle is comfortable to hold either way. The hooks all have different colors corresponding to their size which is also neatly stamped on the end of the handle. I think they’d be great to try without worrying you’d break the bank.

I am new to the crochet world. As a RN, I was trying to find something to help with stress relief during all of this pandemic craziness. Started teaching myself Fall 2020 by watching tons of videos on YouTube. Lots of great teachers out there, spending their time making excellent content for newbies like myself. In particular, I saw a review done for this brand of hooks by TL Yarn Crafts.....she is very passionate about crochet - makes learning so easy and is very encouraging through her videos. I liked her review, so I purchased this set, along with next set (7-12mm) from a different seller, and also a 15mm from another seller.These hooks are so pretty - I can see why many crochet people have acquired many hooks! These hooks feel very comfortable when I hold them. I had been using the thin aluminum colored hooks (my 1st set), and can tell a huge difference in comfort when I have been using these Prym hooks. I have small hands, and these are comfortable for me. I like that they are different colors - the size is "imprinted/indented" near the end of the handle, so I don't see any issues with fading or being rubbed out - it will be there! I think that once I use these more and more, I will be able to associate the color/size at a glance. If you like storing your hooks upright, you may or may not like the placement of the hook size. These are smooth hooks - no wonder they are so popular. I have no issues with catching yarn.My only con, which is not really a con, but because these did cost a bit of money, a noticeable appearance: where the shaft meets the color - above where I place my thumb, there is a circumferential line - that is visible and can feel it, around each of the hooks. It's present on all of the Prym hooks I have. Not sure if it's a connection point shaft to handle. It doesn't affect my using them, like I said, just more cosmetic. My hook pkg was really beat up and not sealed - I was worried that maybe the hooks weren't new. But they appear new with no flaws or signs of use.
