VM95 Series Elliptical Stereo Cartridge

The AT-VM95E, the new Audio-Technica entry model Elliptical cartridge will replace the legendary AT95E and take advantage of the developments of the AT95EX introduced in 2015. The AT-VM95E features an improved and distinctive design resulting in a more rigid low resonance housing, and two threaded inserts in the cartridge body enabling it to be mounted to the headshell or on an integral tonearm with just two screws, no nuts.

Preassembled with AT-HS6BK Headshell

The AT-VM95E cartridge is fitted onto the 9g aluminiumdie cast body headshell.

Elliptical Bonded Stylus

Elliptical diamond stylus follows the groove modulation with greater precision compared to a conical stylus, offering improved frequency and phase responses whilst reducing distortion.

VM95 Series - Styli Compatibility

Every cartridge diamond stylus becomes worn after a period of play. Around 500 hours for a conical stylus, 300 hours for an Elliptical stylus, 1000 hours for a Microlinear stylus, and 800 hours for a Shibata stylus.

Our VM95 Series dual moving magnet cartridges can be used almost forever by replacing the interchangeable stylus. It is no longer necessary to purchase a complete cartridge when your diamond is worn out, you can simply buy the matching replacement stylus, but also enjoy the experience of upgrading your cartridge with a different stylus.

The six models of VM95 Series cartridges all use the same electromagnetic engine-body, therefore each of the six replacement styli are perfectly compatible.

This combo set is the real deal at a good price:Headshell Quality: I think this is a decent, perfectly adequate, albeit not high-audiophile grade headshell. It is indeed made in China (says so on underside) but the craftsmanship looks fine with no obvious defects. I will say I was hesitant to buy from the pictures. It looked like a bold, flashy design to me and I wasn't too fond of it. I'm happy to report it looks more understated in person than the pics may lead you to believe. It's an attractive, adequately manufactured headshell in line with the price. No issues.Ease of installation: this new AT cartridge line is making some waves because of its easy, no-nut mounting. I can report it is indeed easy beyond belief to manipulate the cartridge and align it. Kudos to AT for making a simple yet vastly effective design tweak that helps all of us with big hands and small patience. All you need is a flathead screwdriver to adjust the alignment. The headshell itself s

I bought this cartridge with an AT-VM95SH cartridge to compare the two. Both came pre-mounted with head shells and were in perfect alignment with my Technics SL1200 MK2 turntable right out of the box. I used an alignment grid and a digital stylus gauge for calibration. I did an A/B test of the same albums with the same exact setup for both cartridges and recorded the vinyl to .wav files. This (AT-VM95E cartridge) is almost sonically identical to the AT-VM95SH, I could not really hear a difference between the two, and I tried. They both have excellent 3D stereo depth, clarity, openess, and they both make the albums so exciting and so satisfying again. I was sure this cartridge would be a bit less sonically satisfying to enjoy then the other one, but not so. They sound identical to my sound engineer ears. I heard the same exact amount of surface noise, on the same cleaned albums with both cartridges with the same tracking force of 2 grams. If you want perfection,

Got the itch to play my old scratched vinyl. So I bought a Pioneed PL12D - a value turntable even in its day - on a famous auction site. Needles to say (pun intended), my old vinyl didn't sound anything like I remember it "back in the day". Of course, there was a pop and a click here and there. But to my chagrin, there was no right channel! Spinning my Sony Vinyl Obstacle Course disc confirmed my hearing. So after checking all the usual suspects (wiring, stylus, etc) I went off in search of a replacement cartridge. I heard the AT VM95 series offered the best sound for the money, and the best upgrade path, should I find the ATVM95C somewhat lacking while playing my MoFi vinyl. So I sprung for the next level up, the ATVM95E for its elliptical stylus. Nevermind that it was less than $100 pre-mounted on a decent head shell for easy installation. But even without checking the alignment, I dialed up 2 grams of stylus force and spun away. Ahh... there's nothing like the sound of good vinyl on a half-decent turntable with a quality cartridge thru a vintage receiver and speakers. I'm convinced I made the right decision. Now I gotta go look for some more records to play!

Bought this to replace damaged(by grandson's) headshell for Denon 300 and after no joy contacting Denon decided to go with this which works very well up to a point. No fault of audia technica this is a straight headshell whereas the original on the Denon is curved. The straight headshell negates the turntables automatic start although it has no problem on return. As I said not audia technica fault but something to be aware of if replacing a curved headshell which will impact the automatic cueing

my turntable is a technic sl 1800, pleased with everything but i had some issues with some albums having terrible esssing, if thats the right term, sssome ssssongs ssssounded like you're reading that, the s sound on words was awful, think, tears for fears, ssshout, sssshout sounding for instance.anyhoo im no audiophile but a quick bit or research and the main culprit was probably the stylus, so i dived in and got this.it only bloody worked!! everything sounds crystal clear and so much better than before, no distortion and even tho im not the audiophile i swear everything , not just the s words are far better than before.an easy fix for me and highly recommend

I wasn't sure whether to junk my old Panasonic turntable. I had owned it since 1978 and was on the verge of throwing it out but it had a good, heavy turntable and the motor was sound so I gave it a go. Well, I'm really impressed. The new AT cartridge and stylus worked brilliantly and I can play all my old vinyl - some of which is pretty awful. Goodness me, did I really buy this stuff.

I purchased this cartridge (pre-mounted in a head shell to save faffing about) as a backup for my Ortofon OM10.I already own an Audio Technica AT95E cartridge, which in my opinion is workman-like but unremarkable, so I thought I'd take a punt on its replacement to make a comparison.I swapped the head shells, re-balanced the arm to the recommended 2.0 gm tracking weight, reset the anti-skate and played my favourite 12 inch (Sadao Watanabe's "No Problem") with some trepidation. The result was nothing short of staggering.Straight out of the box, the VM95E had more presence, channel separation and overall performance than the OM10.There was a very tiny shortfall on the very bottom end of the bass register, but having played several more records since I can already hear this dissipating.Apparently you are supposed to give this cartridge 20-odd hours of playing-in time. If it sounds as good as this on first use, I can't wait until it has been burned in!Considering that the Ortofon Stylus 10 costs more on its own (54-60 pounds) than the entire VM95E cartridge assembly (44 pounds), and only slightly less than the pre-mounted VM95E head shell assembly (70 pounds), there is no contest. The VM95E is musical and responsive, and has a punchy presence that the OM10 doesn't have.Horses for courses, I know, but for 44 quid you really can't go wrong.
