It is a pretty good knife for an inexpensive stamped blade. The handle is comfortable to grip. It will need a good honing when you get it. You'll feel the burr on the edge. I tried chopping a small onion and it did not slice as well as I'd like. It is good for small jobs, just not great.

Bought for my husband! These are great quality knives and super sharp. He's already cut himself a few times without realizing it. Definitely extra keep away from Kids. He will be buying more of this brand and you should do. They cut with ease!

It's hard to go wrong with a Victorinox "Fibrox" handled knife. The fit, finish, and sharpness is great, and they use a good quality steel- 1.4110? When they actually lose their initial sharpness, the knife can be easily maintained with a honing steel, and later, a tungsten carbide "V" sharpening device("Accusharp"). My knife edge has held up very well, but I'm just a home cook. I have an 8" Fibrox chef knife, a 6", and now a 5", all with Fibrox handles. One of the things that I like about these is that the handle is angled "up" a bit, to provide more clearance for the hand knuckles.Victorinox makes good knives.

Nothing fancy, just a really good, durable, stamped-steel utility knife. The Fibrox line is a staple in professional kitchens for good reason. Be aware that the relatively thin blade will have more flex to it than your average German steel chef's knife. If good Japanese steel is your daily driver, this will feel like a toy--but then again it's not meant to replace a good chef's knife. The angled bolster also makes it not fit your standard edge guard--I had to modify a Messermeister by cutting back the side at an extreme angle. The handle is comfortable and just grippy enough. I would say that once you have your basics--an 8" to 10" chef's knife, a long serrated bread knife, and maybe a paring knife--this should be your next kitchen essential. I use it daily with a small cutting board for everything that's not a full prep job. An effective, affordable, comfortable, everyday utility knife.
