Battery was physically a good replacement for the original battery (i.e., the form factor was the same). After the battery was installed, it worked as expected for about a week, then failed. When removed the battery voltage was ~0.2 volts, suggesting that the battery completely failed and was not just depleted. The voltage of the removed battery was ~2.6 volts when allowed to rest. This is what I would expect of a depleted battery. I have put the 2nd battery of the order into the fob, and it is working as expected. Its initial voltage was 3.0 volts. I will report on its life later. Right now I do not expect much.The ordered batteries were made Indonesia under the Panasonic brand and have a date code of 9Y23. The original battery was made in Japan and is also branded Panasonic. The form factor is VL-2020/HCN.Since my wife's key is working fine, I know that the car is functioning ok. If this 2nd battery also fails prematurely, I will try another vendor. If I continu
Incorrect orientation for MINI Cooper key battery replacement

I ordered this specifically to replace the battery in my Mini Cooper key fob, which requires unsoldering the old one from the fob. Foolishly, I removed the old battery and then took this (the "new" one) out of the package. The placement of the terminals is wrong, so don't buy this battery if you want to use it for a MINI Cooper key fob. I detached one of the terminals from the old battery and repurposed it, but no dice. I can't say if the battery I received was dead, or there's something else wrong. I've only had the car for a few weeks and the fob hasn't worked since we got the car. I was trying to save some money since I know how to solder. Like I said, it may be a good battery, but the terminals are definitely in the wrong orientation.

Worked for the battery replacement of a 2009 mini cooper non turbo. If your key fob is original more than likely you will need a key fob housing. Most of these fobs are crazy glued from the factory so you wont be able to reuse your old housing.

I don’t know about anyone else, but this battery is certainly not meant to replace the battery on a BMW diamond key fob. At least not on mine. It was a key fob for a 2007 X3. The contact points are WAAAY off. The contact points on this battery is at a 9 & 3 o’clock position as opposed to a 10 & 1 o’clock position on my key fob battery. I had to do some cutting, maneuvering and soldering to make this battery fit. It was a pain in the ass to go thru that.If you’re looking for a replacement battery, make sure you look for this type of battery but with a curved/semi-circle housing for the contacts - NOT the horizontal contacts.

Great batteries. Had to replace 208 Mini Cooper key fob batteries. Had to make modifications like have help with soldering it in. Stupid Mini Cooper!!! Refused to pay their hundred dollar fee they would have charged.
A must for anyone with a BMW.

This battery was designed specifically for the remote key for a BMW. Your BMW dealer will gladly sell you one for a ridiculous price. It is not the easiest battery installation you will ever do, but it is worth the effort to avoid paying over $100 for a new key.

Holes didn’t match although it said it fits on my car style bmw e46 3 series , I even modified to fit but it, still did not work when I pressed the buttons.

Non-Comfort Access BMW key fobs use a VL2020 rechargeable battery. Unfortunately if you want a genuine Panasonic cell, you won't find one with the tabs in the correct orientation. Since I wanted a real Panasonic cell, I decided to modify the battery. It's not hard, you just need to trim the positive tab and run a jumper to the circuit board. I modified two keys this way and both work fine.
Successful replacement for 2008 328i key FOB.

I used one of these as a replacement battery for an E90 (2008 328i) Key FOB - yes, that's of the non-user-replaceable generation (just take an Xacto razer saw and chop that sucker in half). The battery works wonderfully and fit perfectly.

bought this to replace a battery in a 2008 528i bmw remote key. The contacts in the remote are set off-center. The ones on these batteries are centered. Doesn't make the soldering impossible, but more difficult. Can clip a piece off the old battery contact to extend the new battery contact to the correct position.Edited review. I realized the same battery is available with off-set contacts and have ordered them. Leaving the original review notes (but with 5 stars) because it would have been helpful for me to know this before I ordered the wrong one.
