ABUS Plus Locking System

The ABUS Plus Locking System is extremely effective at preventing manipulative break-in attempts such as picking. Unlike traditional pin tumbler cylinders, the disc cylinder found in the Diskus 20 requires that each and every disc has to be moved into the correct spot without removing correctly turned discs from the correct position. Additionally, the cylinder is protected by an anti drill plate.

All-Around Security

Thanks to its fully round shape, the lock is particularly protected against being hammered or sawed open. The rounded shackle is recessed on two sides of the round lock body and offers very little tampering opportunity for break-in attempts.

My first ABUS 20/80 Diskus Stainless Steel Padlock seized up after three months of being locked to my storage unit door. It was in dry moderate temperatures the whole time, but nonetheless would only open with great effort and about a minute of fiddling. I didn't want to spray oil inside it, that would cause dirt and grit to stick inside the mechanism.I threw it away and bought another one, thinking it was a fluke. Well the same exact thing happened to my second one. I've owned several ABUS locks over the last 30 years, and this is not normal for their products. Something went wrong with this model of padlock, but I know Im never buying another ABUS product again. I'm going to replace it with a lesser, but more reliable and cheaper one.
Took over half an hour and four saw blades to remove.

After using this on two PODS, two box trucks and a storage locker it had to be cut off. My storage unit decided to paint the door of our locker, and after this the lock froze up (likely due to spray paint getting inside the mechanism and locking it up) after numerous attempts to open the lock we gave up and asked them to cut it off.Four saw blades, two fully charged batteries and about 30-45 mins later we were into our unit. Needless to say, this lock does it's job and keeps people out of whatever is locked. It fit on a POD unit, two box trucks and my storage unit so no worries about it fitting which was my initial concern. Can't go wrong with it.

This is the infamous Abus 2080. If you're looking at this listing, I assume you know a few things about locks because most people would never consider buying a padlock at this price point. But if you understand how easily the vast majority of padlocks can be bypassed and you want real protection against real criminals, you're in the right place.Yes, I know the lock picking lawyer picked this lock. But come on, not only is he a wizard from some other dimension, in order to pick this lock he has to use AutoCAD to custom design an all-new type of lockpick, then 3D print it, then use the lost wax casting process to manufacture a steel version, then had to invent an entirely new school of lock picking in order to open this beast.So yeah, if you're worried about him or Bosnian Bill stealing your stuff, you've got a real problem on your hands. But as for everyone else on the planet, they're not getting through this lock (except with a shotgun maybe).

I think this is a good lock - looked like it was very hard to saw through or break and the back is plated adding extra security. And it fit on my 16 foot Penske truck… we’ll sort of.. it was hard to lock at times. By itself or in the latch. Sometimes in the latch it was near impossible. Opening it was also extremely hard at times and I worried the key was going to break off in the cylinder. I think I would have kept this lock if the mechanism worked a little bit better and also I didn’t see those other reviews about the key snapping off. The last thing I would want is to have to wait for someone to saw this thing off somewhere because the inside of the mechanism had half the key in it.

No lock is impenetrable. Period. End of paragraph. Disappointing to learn, I know. But once you understand this truth, you can make a truly informed decision.This ABUS lock is 100% made in Germany and is as resistant to picking and/or physical defeat as ANY lock at its price point. This is strong enough to slow down a bad actor and force them to generate noise and take some time in order to defeat the lock. Which is, in reality, the holy grail of any lock.Do your own research, but I'm very pleased. So pleased, that I've ordered a second one.FITMENT NOTE: This fits the locking portion of a Whiting latch on a Penske or UHaul 26' truck. I tested that.

I'm here to write the review that YOU need. Yes! It fits! It's a tight fit but that's the point!! It didn't rust and we got hit with a freak snow storm in VA coming from Texas too!This is a nice, secure lock that fits the Whiting latch assembly on a Penske 16FT truck. I can't say if it will fit a 22FT (other reviews says it does) or a 12FT, but IT FITS A 16FT!( Pro Moving Tip: Always get a moving truck from a corporate district store and NOT a gas station/mom & pop place because they're newer, and in much better condition). Penske > UHaul anyway.Anyway, best of luck for your moving trip.

This is one tough lock. I am renting a storage unit and wanted something quality that would deter a potential thief. I did some reading online and the ABUS 20/80 came highly recommended. It is very heavy and the shackle is thick. I would think this would be extremely difficult if not impossible to remove with a bolt cutter. I was worried that it might not fit on my storage unit, but was happy to see I got it on with no problem. The key is different than a traditional lock you would buy. It can't be bumped and would be much harder to pick. The extra money spent is well worth it for the peace of mind. Ultimately almost any lock can be removed with the right tools, but I would think most criminals would go for an easier target.
To slowing them down... ALOT.

Don't be confused about what a hardened or case hardened or a stainless shackle means. It means most can all be cut off with 36 inch bolt cutters in seconds. Enter the ABUS 20/80 extreme high security disc lock. Most 36 inch bolt cutters can't even get their jaws around this diameter shackle and even if they could it would just shatter or "groove" the jaws. Yes no lock is impenetrable but this will definitely slow them down. To the best of my knowledge the only way you're going to get this off is with a high speed diamond/carbide grinder(noisy andkinda dangerous when they shatter their disks which is often in a grind like this). Also in all fairness let's not forget the ultimate monster the acetylene torch but most people are not usually tooling around with that type of equipment. As everyone knows it's just a question of slowing them down and going to an easier target.
