I've been using this lock in Brooklyn and NYC since the summer of 2015. It works great and looks good. I have it mounted directly on the bottle mounts on the seat tube, it makes for a very trim and compact look. It's true that the links start to get a little squeaky and not so fluid, but it's a very easy fix. I put some Pro Link Chain Lube on one side of the links, move them around a bit, then wipe up the excess. The lube goes through to the other side of the links. It's better than when it's new, and it preserves the links. The other tip I have is when you insert the open end back into the lock mechanism, don't fold up the links first. Let all the links arc around as you put the end in. If you fold it up first, it makes lining up the end with the lock barrel much harder. Once it's locked in, it easily folds up for putting into the holster. And just give it a little shake as you slide it into the holster, as it hangs up a little 3/4 of the way in.I don't leave

It’s very solid and heavy duty. If someone wants to break it apart they will need dedicated tools. In the end if a thief wants your bike they will get it but make it harder for them to steal and the less likely your bike will get stolen over another persons.I originally got it for my bicycle but I’m now using it for my motorcycle wheel. Works great for that too.

Heavy and strong. Easy to lock my bike and easy fold and stow. I first tried to install it on my horizontal bar using my second set of water bottle mount screws, but it got in the way of using my water bottle on my vertical bar. This lock is pretty big. Also, when mounted horizontally using the water bottle two screws the lock holder sagged on one end. Id plan on using the included straps if mounting horizontal, they worked fine.

Love it, works great, but I wish it was a little longer! I have a fat tire tricycle and it's hard to get ANY lock to get around the tire AND frame, but I'm able to make it work. Otherwise, completely satisfied.

I have this and a Kryptonite U Lock. This lock comes in handy whenever I'm not able to lock up to a standard bike rack. However it can be awkward and difficult to maneuver.

This lock is a beast! Very heavy duty and easy to use. It "deploys" easily, so be careful when removing it from the holder or you may smack your bike accidently. The links are coated to protect finishes, but the weight might make a dent or send a cell phone flying, for example.I bought this for my new ebike because of the security rating. I don't plan on leaving my bike unattended, but sometimes nature calls, ya know. I'm having some challenges securing the lock holder to my bike. The housing for the battery is far too large in circumference to use the straps. The seat tube would work, except that would essentially take away half the step-through for my big feet. Sideways on that tube gets in the way of pedaling.Lo and behold, there are openings (backed by metal) that allow you to secure it to water bottle cage bolts. My bolts don't clear the ridges on the back of the holder, so I will need to get longer bolts from the hardware store.With my fat tire bike, the lock doesn't leave a lot of extra room to secure it to a sign post or bike rack. I'll probably use a cable to secure my front tire to the lock and go around a stationary object with the cable.All in all, I highly recommend this lock.

I have an expensive $1,500+ e-bike with fat tires. I wanted the most safe lock possible. The Abus top U-lock was simply too limited due to the bike's thickness. I decided for the best most-secure alternative... this folding lock. I understand the security limitations of folding locks vs. U-locks. This is rated 15 by Abus, same as their corresponding top U-lock, but it only gets 2 stars on the ACE tests when the U-lock get's 3 stars. It simply is not as secure. But I store the bike at night, so most times it is not "alone" for extended periods.The quality of construction is very good. Handling it seems always very solid. The rubber casing allows me to explore different placements without chipping or scratching the bike. The lock carrier/holder is versatile, using velcro straps. It comes with two keys, one with LED light. But frankly, I just use the plain because I like everything streamlined as possible.After a month of use, the lock allowed me to secure the bike in different places and forms.I mostly appreciate how quickly I can place it and remove wherever I can manage to lock it. It turned out to be the perfect solution for me.I guess it takes five stars (until the day I get robbed... :-) )
