Continental's Race King is a classic competition tire which feels at home at the Cross Country World Cup or at marathons. Equipped with the Pure Grip compound, which is one step below their famed Black Chili compound when it comes to grip and rolling speed, but is claimed to have a longer wear life due to the firmer rubber, and comes in at a considerably lower cost. Despite lacking the heavy-duty Protection layer found on their top-tier tires, the dense 3-layer casing and honeycomb sidewall design do a good job fending off punctures and slices from jagged rocks. And of course, it's tubeless-ready, letting you run lower tire pressure for more traction and smoother damping, as well as the peace of mind that comes from a self-sealing tubeless system.

I just installed these tires on my wtb 27.5 wheels. I pumped them to 40psi front, 45 rear and took them out for a ride at my local trail. Immediately I noticed the cornering was better than the continental cross kings running same wheelset and tire pressure. I felt more confident on descents and attacked the ascents. I have more control at faster speeds and in cornering. I was able to be more aggressive on the loose dirt berms and off camber slopes. I’ll probably run my psi on both wheels at a lower pressure to see if that enhances the aggressiveness of the mountain king and hopefully I see an improvement of the confidence with the cross kings at a lower pressure. I will update after my ride results.Update as of 07/19/2020, I ran these tires at the lower psi (20 front/25 back) and they responded really good in loose dry dirt, and packed in hard dirt. The tires were good on cornering due to the treads on the edge of the wheel being deeper. I'm running these on a

After careful thought, I purchased two of these tires for my mountain bike. When they arrived I immediately checked for any issues (I do that for all tires). The tire is very well made and I like the wall thickness the most. My previous tires were 29x2.1. I had no issues installing this 2.2 tire on my rims. I also used a self sealing tube. I took the bike out for a road test. On concrete, these tires road very smooth and I could feel the grip on the road. I drove thru a little road mud and it performed well. You should be happy if you want this tire for a road bike. I did some dirt riding and they preform very well on a dry dirt/gravel trail. I haven't tested the tires on some rough terrain as of yet, but I think they will preform well. Overall, I really like these tires. One thing I might add for the novice riders. Be sure you mount the tire in the correct rotation. The arrow is on the tire, so match it up with the rotation of the wheel. Don't laugh, my buddy co

To all the people who says, oh the tire wobbles and such, check your rim, the spokes may not be aligned or true as they called it. I had wobble also but got it fixed up.The tires are good c: better than the stock tire c: smooth.

Like the aggressive tread. They are a bit difficult mounting on the angular rim

So far traction and durability are awesome. Have about 75 miles on tire so far, mostly dirt, and rock single track. Tire bead seated with a floor pump, didn’t need to use my compressor!Have same tire in 27.5 with even more miles, would definitely recommend.
This was a great tire

This fit my bike perfectly and was easy to install and seems to be riding smoothly while riding on the bike. It was a great deal because I looked around and other places wanted more money unless I got a super cheap brand.

Good tire. I am running it tubeless, and it has been good so far. Time will tell of course, but initial quality is very good. I've only had this mounted up for about a month.

While this is an amazingly sturdy tire, it is extremely difficult to install. We finally had to take it to a bike shop and even a pro had problems. Important to know it is shipped flat. It is very thick. However, now that it's on, it should last a good long while
Good tire for a gravel bike.

This tire worked well for the price. It was easy to install and has good grip for easy dirt trails.

For the money, hard to beat this tire for general mountain biking.Pros: The narrow center band of knobbies make this tire efficient for everything from street riding up to steep trail inclines. The tire is VERY light and feels VERY tough. Well made.Cons: Terrible in ANY sand or mud. There is a rather large gap between center knobby row and outside knobby row. The result is a "catch" point when leaning on soft terrain. The result is sometimes frightening.I should have went with the Trail Kings for better off road control, but this is still an exceptional tire.
Fakes & Defetive

I have been using Race Kings for several years. NEVER had an issue with the quality, in thousands of miles in 3 different bikes. These are a completely different story. I believe they are fakes. The side walls are completely different from the Race Kings they replaced. But I put them on and went for a short 15 mile ride down a dirt trail. The front tire was obviously defective. When rolling it looks like a drunk staggering from side to side down the street. (yes the rims are true) When I got back, I put the bike on the rack and the rear tire was the same. I knew the price was too good to be true. Race Kings run about 50 to 55 bucks. These were 38. Wish I would have caught this before I rode them, but since I did, I guess I am stuck with them.
Not EXACTLY puncture protected

First time out on the trails and ended up walking back bc of these tiny little thorns. I thought ooookay, maybe I went too hard as I was jumping and shredding....NOT EXACTLY the case...Went out the second day after replacing and going through every inch of the tire, just to make sure I had nothing that would puncture my tube and it happened again!I took a normal stroll through the same trail and ended up walking back home.Don’t say these are puncture resistant, these thorns were small and they made it through the tire like butter. Not very durable and you should knock down at least 10 bucks off the price.

The media could not be loaded. Converted to tubeless. Switched my non-tubeless wtb nano 2.1 tires with these Conti King Cross 2.3. A little challeging getting them seated properly the first time. A little soapy water did the trick. Went for my first trail ride yesterday and the tires felt good. More side grip than my previous tires.
They last about 4 months, then may as well toss them

1/29/20Purchased 2 of these in September of 19. Both are trash already. Never again will I buy continental tires. Never. It's like they wear to a certain point then Bam, garbage. I literally got a flat tire when an office staple punctured the tire. AN OFFICE Staple, not a heavy duty staple, not a packing staple, one of the tiny thin bendy OFFICE STAPLES. Look elsewhere
Truly disappointing quality

The media could not be loaded. I purchased a pair of Continental Cross King 26" x 2.2" tires for my son's Trek Wahoo. The tires were horribly not uniform in their depth, oscillating by ~0.5in (1 cm) when mounted - see the attached video. Both tires had the same pattern of movement aligned to the embossed printing on the tire in the same location, so it appears to be a consistent defect versus a QA test escape. I have always purchased continental tires for my road bike and continental tubes for all of my families bikes. It is so disappointing to see a company sacrifice product quality of a respected brand. It is sad to see decisions to increase the margin on products through cheaper manufacturing at the expense of quality. I paid more for a brand name tire and received sub-par quality and wasted my time.

I have purchased 3 .. 2 of the 3 had defects and would wobble on a perfectly straight rim seated propper and double checked by local bike shop with and without tubes . One of the defected tires was so bad i could not live with it .. against better judgement i got the 3rd and it was perfectly fine. So i have one staright tire. One that has a little wobble that i can live with and one that is useable technically but very annoying can feel the wobble and can even see it wobble in my shadow while riding. I kept the tire as a spare so i dont have to stop riding when i wear out or destroy a tire. contacted continental and never heard back from them. I will not be buying anymore continental tires. And i do not recommend taking chances with them after reading about continental. this is a ongoing problem and continental don't care to fix the issue.

Replace Schwalbe Rocket Ron’s because I kept getting flats on gravel rock trails with little spurs and thorns... took these new Continentals out on same trail and no flats so far and feel just as fast.

I bought this on a whim because it was the only tire that would make it to my home in one day before I left for vacation after I cut a tire. My LBS had nothing in stock. It mounted extremely easy with a small compressor and 2 OZ of sealant. I am running it on the rear and it has been solid. Plenty of grip. I did not weigh it before mounting but it felt a little heavier than the SBI Fasttrak it replaced. I thing the SBI is around 600g so I would guess maybe 650g. I have around 100 miles on it this week and havent thought about it once. I guess thats good.Update. After 3 months and 225 miles the casing gave out. I typically ride this tire around 27-29 psi. Even though the tire is seated and wheel is true the tire has enough wobble in it to feel pretty significant while riding. Basically trash now.
