Overall this product works well. Know that it's a good problem solver and a versatile design. Why only 3 stars? Because the install is not easy and the instructions don't highlight key points. They focus too much on the overall installation and not enough on the key part of threading and securing the straps. So I wanted to mention 3 suggestions because I was so close to sending it back after it fell off twice:1 - the straps have a trailing edge (threads through the inside). It is very important that you have enough slack. Say 2-3 inches past where it goes through. Otherwise, the strap can pull out once tensioned.2 - the straps have a leading edge (wraps around and inserts on the outside, then you tighten down). Thread it all the way through. Not a little or part way. All the way through. Otherwise you may not be able to tension it sufficiently.3 - leveling the mount. This was not at all obvious. At least the rack I had was very stiff. Yes, loosen the 4 screws. Bu

Look, it kind of holds up, it's easy to install, but for a few reasons it's not worth the price. I can only guess that the manufacturer was expecting only a few people to actually want this type of tour rack, so they just kind of had an intern draw something up and they micromanaged the crap out of the design phase in order to get done. They then jacked the price up to give the rack the appearance of a quality product to compensate for it's poor design.That said, the construction is lightweight, but the materials are really cheap. The composite rack platform is just bad looking, like something that would come on a child's bicycle or something. The positioning arms that come with the tour rack are also chrome plated (why?) and are made of really thin cheap-looking steel. Both the radius bent structural rods that form the side and weight-bearing portion of the rack, and the keyed nylon webbing securing mechanisms are the only components that look like they were desi

The best thing about this is how it looks compared to other pannier racks out there-It's much more sleek. I bought this as a "removable" rack but that is definitely not how it was designed. The brackets that go around the frame are sturdy and well constructed but because they are basically ratchet straps can be a bit annoying to thread the strap and remove. In addition to that, the straps are tightened using an allen rench. Then to losen the ratchet a proprietary key, which comes with the rack, is required to unlock it. To me this seems very unnecessary considering how difficult removing the straps with an Allen key alone would be. So this means you need to carry two tools around in the event you need to adjust it. The other big gripe I have is that the rubber gasket that goes inside the bracket just sits in place. One of the reasons I returned one of the cheaper racks I got before this one is because of this issue alone- it is difficult and annoying to install the thing when you have to worry about the rubber gasket not sitting right. For the price, I don't see a benefit. The other cheaper racks out there are also difficult to install but at least they are cheap.

The rack arrived with mismatched struts (two lefts, no rights). The side panels were necessary to work at all. The attachment points require the use of a special key to remove or adjust. The adjustment bolts both face inward toward each other, making adjustment difficult. I had to fashion an extra strut across the back to stabilize the rack. The plastic tab to hold a rear light snapped off right away. The side panels aren't sufficient to keep the panniers from rubbing and wearing. Bolts constantly work themselves out. Way too expensive. Both main struts snapped off during a ride on a dirt road, leaving me stranded 82 miles from any succor. Bottom line: worst rack I've ever had.

this looks like a good option for adding a rear rack to a full suspension bike, but not if youre doing any real riding. after only about a month of use it broke, even though i never loaded it with more than the recommended weight allowance. snapped clear off at one of the bolts. im guessing the up and down movement of the suspension was too much for it. i tried emailing thule to see if they would replace it, but after almost a week i havent gotten a response. bad overpriced product, bad customer service.

As others have said the rubber frame mounts should be glued to rack? Otherwise I am happy to have a mount that works on suspension bikes. I added basket that has to be pushed back a bit more than I would prefer otherwise seat will hit on big drops. I did modify the front of basket to get closer to seat by bending cage over.. keep an eye on upper brace bolts, I lost one after a week of riding so decided to not fool around and reset bolts with red loctite

It's the best available for full suspension mountain bikes

Ugh. I guess I love it..... This is my second purchase of the same product. It's the best available, any critiques I have are really just because it's so bloody expensive. I spent a lot of time searching around for something else or better, there isn't anything. I only recommend it if you have a full suspension bike, or need a mount in the front, otherwise there are sturdier options. the hardware that connects it all is bound to break one day, that said, it will be super easy to replace it with something that will work better, or even just get a couple bolts with lock nuts at the end, not a big deal, I just had higher expectations from something at this price point. All that said, like I mentioned above, this is my second one for a second bike, and that's after looking exhaustively for a better option. Congrats Thule... you got my money again....

Pros: unique idea, cool looking, didnt seem to add too much weight, can be added to any bike front or back.Cons: Expensive, Quality of plastic rack was below of what i would want for the price, doesnt hold much weight, tends to shift while riding with a pannier on.i ended up returning the product. i know it only holds 25lbs max, the panniers hold 15 lbs max. once i installed it which was not as straight forward i went for a ride and the rack was shifting around. the weight on my panniers was about 10lbs. i went back and re-tightened everything and this time around there wasnt as much shifting. however i was still troubled by the durability and i was not confident enough that these would last very long. Basically everything is hard plastic and some of the bolts arent as high quaility as i would expect for the price.

I don't like to overpay for fancy luggage racks, but for my bike (a dirt jump because I'm short) this is the only option short of drilling holes. It is a bit tricky to install and watching their video a few times helps. reading the manual a few times helps, too. Swedes are not big into text instructions - the manual looks like ikea. Don't tighten all the way before you get all the alignment and level the platform. Surprisingly, my large $1 Ikea clearance bike bag fits perfectly without buying the side attachment. I like that this rack can be moved to virtually any bike. The only thing is that I wish it can carry heavier stuff. I'm very happy with it so far.
