The Kryptonite Evolution Mini-7 U-Lock features a 13 mm hardened max performance steel shackle with a double deadbolt anti-rotation design that resists bolt cutters and twisting leverage attacks. The lock’s disc-style cylinder with center keyway is protected by a vinyl coating and is pick and drill resistant. The keyway also features a sliding dust cover to protect the cylinder from dirt and debris when not in use. It includes three stainless steel keys with an ergonomic design to reduce torque and keep them from bending or breaking. One of the keys has an LED key fob for added visibility in the dark. Rated at a 7 / 10 on our security scale, the Evolution Mini-7 is good for quick stops on college campuses, a couple of hours in major metropolitan areas, and all day & overnight in suburbs and rural areas. It also includes our patented Flex Frame-U Bracket providing convenient multi-location U-Lock transport. This lock is also bundled with a Krypto Flex 410 (4′ 10mm) double looped braided steel cable for securing front wheel or accessories. Compared to most other less expensive locks that I’ve had, this Kryptonite Evolution appears to be better crafted, has a much heavier crossbar, the cylinder engages the shackle at both ends, the keying system feels more like a real lock, and it seems to be robust. Overall, these are impressive qualities that I do appreciate and they make me feel better about locking in high crime areas. However, there are some issues: the 13mm shackle is really not much heavier than most other locks, the shackle is a little too short for many real-world applications, the keying is sticky, and the bracket mount needs improvement. For a lock at this price, these issues are a little disappointing. I guess I can live with the 13mm shackle with the understanding that it’s a trade-off for lighter carrying weight. The shorter shackle is a bigger issue. Another inch would make it so much easier to lock in many situations. The keying can be frustrating to engage, but maybe it’s just the i

Other than the issue with the mount, I’m satisfied with the lock, gives me piece of mind that my bike will still be there when I get out of work.

Hard to add much to the extensive reviews for the product. Seems solidly made and locks smoothly enough. Very heavy but there’s probably nothing the manufacturer can do about that while preserving the security features.

Seems like a nice bike lock. Only time will tell if it truly is a secure one. For now, it’s good for removing temptation and keeping honest people honest. LOL! I had a higher end model son my last eBike but it weighed a ton so I opted for this smaller one. Fingers crossed it was not a mistake.

If you own a fat tire bike, read the specs carefully and confirm the lock will fit around a rear tire and the frame.I didn’t and it’s pretty well useless, except as a lock for a cable.My bad.The lock itself is Kryptonite quality.

The location of the mounting bracket on the U lock make it difficult to place this in an easy to use location. Would be nicer if it was rotated 90 degrees so it could be side mounted instead of the way it is.

We have high hopes for this lock. Unlocking and locking started out as a challenge but once we got used to it/figured it out, all is well. The steel cable is too short for beginners to maneuver. Especially if your beginner is a teenager. Bike has yet to be stole, so we’re doing good.

I bought this bike lock because it had insurance and two of my bikes were stolen. The only issue was I didn’t know the lock was shipping from London when I bought it from a third party since it’s 100 brand new. The shipper sent it requiring a signature so the deliver won’t leave it and they don’t call or call the manager. I might not even get the package. It actually came fairly quickly I have had to call DHL four times every day because the person doesn’t dial the gate code.After much difficulty the package did come and the dhl called me. I went to the registration right away and was able to register it fine. I was a little concerned from the other reviews but luckily this finally worked out for me. So it helps to have the insurance on the bike since I had two stolen!Unfortunately one thing I did not know when buying this off amazon there is a 30 day requirement and I bought it before my move.
