Picked up this ratchet because I am constantly using a 6″ extension to rotate nuts down long studs on my car. I usually use a junky ratchet, take off the extension and socket from the ratchet and spin the nut down until it stops and then tighten with the ratchet. With the Wera Zyklops you can avoid all of that by pressing the swivel release and positioning the ratchet head at a 0 degree angle (straight) and spin the ratchet while holding it on the free-spinning shaft. This makes it SO much nicer than basically taking my ratchet apart to spin a nut, just to put it back together. I do wish that the ratchet had more angles you could lock it at other than 90, 15, and 0 degrees. 45 degrees might be nice, or 60 deg, etc. but as it is designed is just fine. It has 72 teeth which is “fine” enough honestly. I am spoiled with some 84 tooth ratchets but the rotation required between the two is so moderate it would be hard to tell which is which without knowing. Only complaint per se is that I wish the ratchet head was not sealed. I like to lube my ratchets because 9 times out of 10 the manufacturer uses junky lubricant or it breaks down over time. It appears as though the Wera Zyklop has a sealed head which, while it makes it unlikely that lube would leak out, means you cannot lubricate the gears with your favorite lube should the ratchet get loud or gritty (which it shouldn’t, but you get the idea).GREAT ratchet over all – almost feel bad using it for what it is designed for – its nice to look at!

It’s a beautiful toy/tool, but it’s a little to-fancy and dainty for greasy grunt work. It’s fun to play with the different things it can do, it does have nice smooth fine-tooth gearing, and it’s very nice to have a ratchet that can double as a ratcheting nut-driver.It’s also cool to show friends. But, I was first disappointed to see that the green plastic direction change wheel rubs slightly on the metal frame when in the ~45-degree head position. The same green plastic direction change wheel is a little tough to grab with greasy / work gloves.I was recently further disappointed that under heavy torque, the rubber handle flexes at the end, such that the internal steel handle stops a little short of the end and allows the rubber to flex. The rubber handle, and miscellaneous angled parts are difficult to clean after oily/greasy work. For automotive work, I’ll be looking for a flex head ratchet with a steel handle.I’ll continue to enjoy my little “transformer” ratchet, but I’ve decided that the added bulk of the fat rubber handle is nice for a play-tool / nut-driver backup, but the added bulk is out-of-place for automotive work.

So my first real test run with this was building a geodome playset for my 2 year olds birthday that came very late the night before by way of her grand parents and with a socket, set a bit adapter, bits and a agjustable watcher the job was done completed much easier than I expected. You can spin tighten with it strait ahead like a screw driver then with a quick button press finish tightening with it like a nice normal ratchet without having to change tools, for me this was very useful. Given the price and how much you’ll use it you’ll have to make that determination for your self but I am very happy with my purchase.

Some of the review categories are bizarre. “Sheerness” or “thickness” for a tool?Anyways, this is excellent. Well-made, useful and fun. Great to keep around with a small set of metric and SAE sockets for repairs. Good as a driver too, with adapter and bits.

Broke after 3 months of use and can’t return on Amazon so I will contact seller. Was loosening a bolt and gears inside head must have broke and now it just spins. Really cool idea but maybe just use it for lighter torque bolts.

Let me start by saying I love this ratchet and have been using it for 4 months as professional motorcycle technician. The ability to use as a ratcheting wrench or screwdriver is excellent. This ratchet can be used one handed to switch positions and directions easily. That being said, after 4 months the head of the ratchet locked up. Wera doesn’t seem to have any real warranty support through their website. I managed to email Wera and they emailed back asking for a video of the problem and to send my shipping address. Since then, no response. I have since bought a replacement ratchet while I wait since I enjoyed it so much, and after loosing a 19NM pinch bolt, the new ratchet locked up again and is unuseable. 2 broken ratchets and no help from Wera. Honestly I want to order another it was so great, but fool me twice… Wera if you’re listening please help us be tool rebels by standing by your product warranty.

Works just like they show it. Like the feel. Love being able to lock it into different positions. Still pricey for what it is.
