**** Update*** bumped down one star. The new tire only lasted two seasons before is started splitting apart. Emailed Vittoria 4 months ago, all the info to include purchase dates, my address and pictures. They sent a reply asking me to give them a call. My schedule doesn’t allow me to call during the day so every time I call it’s a voicemail. In this day in age, more options should be available to get an RMA. I believe it was an old tire stock that I received. Other than this issue, great tire if you get a “fresh” one.Seven years… really? I only got a little over seven years of use out of this tire. It was so bad that I had to order another one after I had the first one so long that it dry rotted and cracked. Only after a bazzilion miles or so. I can’t believe it didn’t last forever. I would only rate it one star if I didn’t know any better.

Update 3/29/19 – over 2100 turbo trainer miles and there is still almost no wear. There is some blackening where the tire contacts the trainer, but that is from the metal of the trainer rubbing off the tire. This thing is ridiculous. I’d happily buy another, but I think it will be decades before I need to.Update 3/29/18 – I now have over 1300 turbo trainer miles on this tire and it still looks new. I notice a tiny amount of red dust on my trainer, but nothing major. In over 1300 miles this tire is still performing like new.I have been using these all winter since getting a smart trainer, well almost. I started with my regular outdoor tire and quickly noticed it was wearing out insanely fast so I decided to order these. I have well over 550 trainer miles on them and you can hardly see any wear. They have excellent traction with my trainer. Mounting them to my wheel was no trouble either. I always use tire levers. I have two of these, one for my bike and one for

I used to run my bike tires on my trainer, the sound was so loud it would drive my family batty. I bought a spare wheel and mounted this on that wheel. Actually I had the local bike mechanic install it, and he had a tough time. I bought the 23mm tire and simply could not mount it. It’s to be expected though becuase, as everyone says, the tire made of a very hard rubber. It is also extremely quiet. I have been using it for about 400 miles and have notices no wear.It will pick up a metalic residue after a short time. This is normal. Some rubbing alcohol and a rag witll get it off. It’s also a good idea to keep it at 100psi as the tire says and definately recalibrate your trainer after you do. I would highly recommend this as I have Vittoria tires on the wheels that I regularly ride, as they are a very good tire manufacturer.

Salutations my fellow Amazonians,Boiled down review: this tire comes in a small box (and its super flat), give it some time to just adjust to room temp and to just rest (It sounds like we’re cooking…I know). I’m not going to lie, I cussed a few times trying to get this sucker on my rim but after a few attempts I was able to get it on the rim (keep in mind it doesn’t naturally have the curves/beads to set into the rim) and I was able to pump up the tube to set this sucker in place.I’ve been rocking it on my indoor trainer and I (a) love the color difference between my front and rear tire (oh yes, I went there) and (b) it works.Happy training. Cheers.

Previously I had been using a normal smooth road tire on my indoor trainer and it all seem well until one day the tire got too hot and warped the tire; basically it is not round anymore. I wanted to avoid this so I purchased this indoor specific tire. The first thing I noticed was how much quieter this tire was to my normal road tire. I have finished one training session so far and have to say it works pretty well. I can’t say anything about durability but so far so good. I would recommend this tire if you dont want to risk damaging some rather expensive road tires and want a quieter indoor training experience.

Installed on a 2003 Giant ORC medium frame road bike on a Cycle Ops Fluid 2 non-smart indoor trainer. Just received few days ago and have done one ride. Will update in a month or so. The tire has a great feel on the trainer, like its getting good traction, but rolling smoothly, so the feedback is road-like.The tire shape is very flatten in the box and reluctant to take tire shape for install. One note is the package says “must install on hook rimmed wheel” but I’m not seeing this in the description of the product. It was difficult to get the tire to resume shape in order to install, but with some shaping around the wheel, probably being warmed by my hands, the force of stretching the bead around the wheel while flattening/shaping the edge into the wheel eventually worked. Didn’t take too long, honestly, but was weird to negotiate. I would suggest removing tire from package and hanging in with something like a broom stick stuck inside the wheel for it to relax and assume tire shape for a few days. This tire does not have standard road tire height, so you’ll need to be extra careful when stuffing the tube in, the tube will want to wrinkle up and hang out the side. I continued stuffing tube under during those first few inflating pumps and shaping / pulling pushing the wheel while SLOWLY inflating. This seemed to work great.I’ll update on longevity at some point, but I think you buy this with confidence to save your road tires.

Changed from a Conti Gp4000s that was nearing its end of life that I was using on a trainer to this one and the sound improvement was huge. Smooth-rolling and quiet. Very happy with this. Only have a couple of hundred miles on it so I do not have any life data yet, but just the noise reduction makes this worth it to me.Update: a few weeks later this tire is as noisy as any other I have tried. Heat is showing the wear looking like burning rubber on the tire surface. I think that is just going to be the nature of using a fluid trainer. Good tire but it doesn’t seem to be better than anything else.

If this tire fell apart tomorrow, I’d still be extremely pleased. Very impressed that it has not lost grip, and is still as quiet as ever after all the miles and heat cycles. The lack of noise was a real surprise to me. I assumed a relatively treadless road tire would be similar but there is no comparison. This tire is much quieter. Must be something to do with the case construction.PS: I find the reviews expressing dissatisfaction with a tire lasting “only” a year or two of consistent use really confusing. Maybe a novice cyclist doesn’t know what to expect from a piece of rubber a couple of millimeters thick, pumped up to 100 psi, and pressed against a small axle at high pressure and high speed? As a road racer, I’m happy with any tire that lasts 1200 miles, much less a year or more… whether indoors or out.Either way, I’ll happily be purchasing another of these tires when (if?) this one finally dies.

I was recommending this tire to a friend and went in to pull a link and was surprised at some of the reviews. The tire works perfect. Keep it clean, keep the trainer clean, keep the pressure where it needs to be. I do this every few weeks or so. Those who have failures seem to have tires that look terrible. This has to do with the amount of pressure being applied by the trainer and the quality of the trainer. I have used these with Cycleops and Kurt Kinnetic. Neither have caused issues with this tire.

I swapped out my bike’s regular back tire (a Continental Gatorskin) with this tire when I noticed that the Gatorskin was looking very different on the area where it contacts the trainer — almost as if it was slightly melting. This was alarming, needless to say, because they don’t just give those Gatorskins away. I’m amazed that being in contact with the slick metal on the trainer was apparently doing this much damage to the tire, even though I’ve ridden hundreds of miles on all varieties of pavement in hot and cold weather, and the Gatorskin holds up great.Anyway, the bright red color of this trainer tire means there’s no mistaking it for an actual road tire, and it already (after only a few 30 min trainer rides) seems to hold up better than my actual road tire. Can’t speak to longevity yet, as I only just got it.It’s definitely quieter on the trainer, too. That’s a bonus.
