The various tools of a Swiss Army Knife are manufactured from high-quality steel with precisely tuned features that are essential for the particular application. The steel is tempered, annealed and polished to achieve the necessary hardness and provide optimum resistance to corrosion. Every knife embodies our four cornerstones: quality, functionality, innovation and iconic design.
The Swiss Army Knife is the ultimate multi-tool. Whether you need a magnifying glass to read fine print or a metal saw to cut through iron, the Swiss Army knife has your back. In addition to a blade, these gadgets include various implements such as screwdrivers, bottle openers, and scissors.
Innovation is our tradition and has been ever since we patented the first Swiss Army Knife in 1897. Here in the Swiss Knife Valley, we take lumps of molten steel and blend with generations of experience to forge knives which are loved all over the world. As we continue to find new ways to improve our knives we also strive to apply better solutions that meet new requirements and our customers unarticulated needs.
In 1891 Karl Elsener, the owner of Victorinox, was under contract by the Swiss Army to produce a folding pocket knife to be suitable for use by soldiers for opening canned food and disassembling the Swiss service rifle. Elsener invented a special spring mechanism allowing him to attach the tools on both sides of the handle, using the same spring to hold the tools in place. This innovative design meant Elsener could put twice as many features on the knife, which included a blade, a second smaller cutting blade, reamer, can-opener, screwdriver, corkscrew, and wood fiber grips. The Swiss Army Knife is the most recognizable icon of utility and smart design, and the knives are still made exclusively in only two factories in Switzerland.

Please see photo which shows 3 generations of Victorinox nail clippers. Oldest on the left, newest on the right, this one in the review.Oldest.This is about 15 years old. It was so good that not only was it permanently in my travelling toiletries bag but I use it also when at home. The steel is highly polished. The jaw is ultra wide, as wide as you can comfortably handle the clippers really. So wide it could easily cope with the cylindrical curvature of any toenail. A few years ago noticed it lost it sharpness so bout genration two. It also has a pointy bit for toe jam and parallel lines punched into the metal to work as nail file. It works.Generation Two.This is about 4 years old. Steel is polished but not as much as the oldest one, above. The jaw does not open as wide consequently has trouble fitting into some toenails. However, the nail file is better because this is of the sand blasted / diamond dust coated kind of surface. Overall performance I would still rate the oldest one better than this one.Generation three.Fractionally smaller than the other two. It is lighter because it does not have such a long lever for the finger press. The jaw can’t oepn wide enough for toenails but just about enough for fingernails. Don’t know what this is good for; was goignto say may be good for permanently being stowed in the handbag but it doesn’t have a nail file, Victorinox never even bothered to try.; they could easily have put diamond dust type of surface onto the bottom of the clippers but have not. Poor show. This newest Victorinox clippers is worse performer, worse than the oldest one although the oldest is not as sharp as it used to be. Come on Victorinox, you are resting on your laurels, Leatherman will overtake your reputation soon. This clippers is so bad it will not go into my travelling toiletries bag. Wish I could return it but not sure if it’s possible, this being a hygiene related product. You are warned. Given 2 stars for the adequately polished steel.Update.Forgot to mention Victorinox is too cheap skate not to provide a sleeve whereas they did for the older two models. You need one to avoid the sharp edges coe into contact with other items in your bag surely ?

Wow – These are the smallest / weakest nail clippers I’ve ever seen. No wait, sometimes less useful ones come in Christmas crackers – it’ll be a close call though.Genuinely about as useful as a chocolate fireguard – unless of course you purchased them for your dolls house, kittens claws or your young child.

This is very very small nail clipper but cuts very clean. Did not even have to file my nails after cutting. I wish they made a bigger one as good for toes

After accidentally clipping a little too far on my one month olds fingernails I began hunting for a set of clippers that I could have a lot of control over while wrangling a tiny kiddo. These Victorinox clippers were a life saver! You can hold them millimeters away from the cutter head with perfect visibility and control of what you are cutting. They are small enough to trim itty bitty baby fingers but still large enough for my grown man hands. I bought a second pair to keep in the car. I would give this 6 stars if I could.

Need to sneak in a small nail file section, right under where the lever folds up for storage. Do that and they’d be excellent travel/camping/backpacking clippers.

They may be pricey but if you don’t lose them they’ll probably be the last pair you’ll ever buy. Work great and folds up compactly.

I don’t think I’ve experienced a nail clipper quite like this. Waaaay more refined than the typical junk from China. But they ARE pretty durn small, however. So I suppose if you had some big Neanderthal finger nails, and your goal in life is to shear ‘em off with 2 quick snips…and you don’t particularly care about the result…well, you might want to look elsewhere. Same reason some people buy a new Mercedes and others still like their ‘94 F150…

I was a little surprised how small these where when I received them because I have large cave man hands. They do work very well and they are sharp. The purpose of these was to have them in my EDC/BOB bag because who wants finger talons during the apocalypse while trying to wipe yourself, bad image! They seem like high quality but time will tell. They are a bit pricey but good things usually are so there’s that. Lets hope they last.

I was really worried about these clippers being too small. I use a size large glove in the clinic so my hands are actually about average for a male but these are super small when I hold them in my hand. But they work extremely well and the way you hold them, I feel, makes them much easier to use than normal clippers. Best clippers I’ve had by far.

Well made , small and cut well. Perfect for the car console, pocket or purse. I’ve given several as gifts and they reported liking them very much.
