Care Tips for Swiss Army Knives
The various tools of a swiss army knife are manufactured from high-quality steel with precisely tuned features that are essential for the particular application. The steel is tempered, annealed and polished to achieve the necessary hardness and provide optimum resistance to corrosion. With it’s unique build Swiss Army Knives require easy but particular care. Use the recommendations below to keep your knife at it’s peak functionality.
- SHARPENING: Use a whetstone at an angle of 15°– 20°. This will result in a cutting angle of 30°– 40°. If sharpening on a grinding wheel, cool with plenty of water to avoid excessive temperatures.
- CLEANING: Open and close the blades in warm water several times. When they have dried it is recommended to apply a small drop of oil between the blade, tool shank and the spring or locking mechanism.
- WARNING: Never put Swiss Army Knives in the dishwasher.
- RECOMMENDATION: Swiss Army Knife Oil (Item No.4.3301). FEATURES: (1) neutral odor and taste, (2) highly resistant to aging, (3) good wear and corrosion protection qualities, and (4) Food safe

I have owned many Victorinox Swiss Army Knives in my time and this Fisherman model was purchased for my uncle. As one would expect, the knife is a fine quality product. For the fisherman there is the hook disgorger tool and fish scraper and measuring rule, as well as useful scissors. The other features are as pictured. Note also that this knife has a tooth pick and a small pair of tweezers which slot into the red plastic bodywork near the keyring attachment point.The only thing that disappointed me about this product was the packaging. In the past, any Victorinox knives I’ve bought have come in a nice little card box with a plastic insert. However, perhaps in an effort to cut costs and be more eco-friendly, the box for this knife was very basic. Sure, it was Victorinox branded, but it was just a simple card box, one that afforded very little protection to the knife. Indeed, in transit, my box got slightly damaged due to Amazon’s packaging, which was inadequate

Victorinox fisherman ,well you don’t have to be a fisherman to enjoy owning this knife ! Typical victorinox quality ,I have never had a bad one !This model has a good tool set everything is handy even the fish scaler blade (handy as a make shift straight edge and even a lunch fork at a push ) there is an angler model with a corkscrew instead of the fisherman’s Philips screwdriver , guess anglers are more for wine ? This knife was purchased for a bargain price here on Amazon delivered fast by the seller, so well pleasedrecommended for fishermen or even anglers who don’t drink wine and everybody else who wants a handy pocket knife !

It’s awesome! It is such a pretty knife. I am going to use this knife for fishing and camping. It is my favorite swiss army knife that I own now. I own five swiss knives now. The Tinker, Vic Evogrip 16, Serrated Wenger Highlander, Angler, and Fisherman. This one is my favorite of them all. I never found much use for a cork screw when fishing, I’m not much of a wine drinker. The bottle opener is wonderful, and it’s a good size screwdriver, the scissors are great for clipping line and much more. When a fish swallows your fly the hook gouger really can get back there. There is a big blade for cleaning fish, small blade to keep sharp for use as medical scoupal. The multipurpose hook can be good for pulling up tent stakes if you are a camper, Everything functions well.

I am acquainted with the purchased item because I had one for many years as a gift from my children and late wife. Having somehow lost or misplaced it with no clue (despite a careful search and retracing my whereabouts) I was very glad to see the same item being sold at Amazon. The purchase arrived 2 days later per the kind arrangement of the Amazon rep with whom I had spoken. The item was intact and in fine working order. While I miss my original one because it was a family gift long ago, on a utility basis, the new (identical) model works just fine and I feel better having this handy pocket tool. Thank you.
