Got this one for my dad who is a residential contractor, mainly for doing layout wood, drywall, wood/metal siding panels, etc. He says “It’s the best chalking I’ve ever owned” which says something since he’s been using them for 35 years or so, mainly due to the fast-rewind of the snaplinr and the durable thick string which leaves a bold & easy to see mark in outdoor daylight or indoor/garage/dimmer lit conditions especially since I ordered the fluorescent bright pink colored chalk to fill it with.Makes me think I should’ve got this one for myself! Though I do like the Tajima model I bought for doing my layout as a sheet-metal worker, which is the Chalkrite 2 & leaves a very thin line that works well for architectural sheet metal. I got blue chalk with mime, which admittedly turns out to be more difficult to see in dimmer lighting. Both are great though.

Absolutely love this chalk box and would highly recommend it. It has an extremely durable braided line that makes crisp, clean chalk lines. The box itself is aluminum with a rubber grip/gasket. It is way better quality than anything that I’ve seen DeWalt or Irwin put out, that’s for sure. I have a good feeling that this box will last me years.. I usually have to buy a new Irwin Speed Line every 5-6 months, and that’s if I’m lucky that it lasts that long. The one and only thing that I do not like about this box is the hook. It’s not the design, it’s the material that it is made of. Like the box, the hook is also made of aluminum only a lot thinner, and It’s not hard to bend the hook out of place. Fortunately though, you can use any hook you want, just swap it with something more durable, it’ll work just the same. All in all, I give this box 9.5/10.

Only used it for one day so far, a lot of ripping shear panel strips and window furring, good size, nice line, the rubber hook doesnt cut at my fingers. Looking for one that outlasts the Milwaukee and De Walt models in the stores which fall apart at will it seems these days, I am hoping this snap line lasts a long time, making the price tag irrelevant compared to buying three junkers so far this year. Best I ever owned was the speed line from years ago which is no longer made. Maybe I found a better one?

So before I found this on Amazon I was using the chalk rite 2 model. I kept breaking the plastic handles on a metal chalkbox and clogging the gear. This one I’ve had for a but and even ran it over in my toolbelt with the lull and it still works well. The only thing I’d change about this model is the hook I always end up bending them somehow

I’ve used a lot of different chalk boxes in many years of construction and framing, this is the worst performing chalk box out of all the ones I’ve used over the years. I actually purchased this one thinking I would be able to avoid common issues with cheaper quality chalk boxes, but unfortunately this one just gave me more problems. First, this chalk box has a great tendency to bind up, even with very little chalk in the box, I’ve never had binding issues with any other chalk box, not even the cheapo ones that some of my crew mates use. It doesn’t seem to matter how much or how little chalk you have in the box, nor how carefully you wind it up, there’s about a 50/50 chance it will bind. On one occasion it bound so badly I had to completely take apart the chalk box, and that is when the issues became apparent. The internals in this chalk box are incredibly poor quality, and flimsy. In addition to this annoyance, I’ve found that this string holds chalk very poorly

Says 5 pack but it’s only one. It’s good product, just deceptive

I’ve used lots of chalk lines in my work and this stands above all that I’ve ever used. It leaves a nice crisp line, if you use good chalk of course. It reels up very fast, and it doesn’t tangle or bunch as it reels up. It’s light and ergonomical to hold. You can depress the button to click the real handle out of the release so you can walk and let the line out without the handle whipping around. Also, the light body of the line is very tough. This is the best lasting and quality line I’ve ever used by far.
