Product Description

bike brake pads

SRAM G2 Guide/Trail Disc Brake Pads

Blended compound brakes for superior stopping power.

SRAM G2 Brake Pads are exactly what your calipers have been asking for. Designed with different materials for the perfect ride and stopping power under speeds. Reduced grams make for an easier ride uphill.

Available in sintered, organic/steel, and organic/aluminum. See below for compound comparisons.

Kit Components:

Each pad kit includes two brake pads, a pad spreader spring, pad pin and clip. Product comes with brake pads per one caliper so you will need to get two kits.

Proper Care Instructions:

Once a compound is used with a rotor, only that compound should be paired with that compound in the future.

Brake pads must be replaced if the total thickness of the backing plate and pad friction material is less than 3 mm. The rotor must be replaced if the total thickness is less than 1.55 mm, or when changing pad friction material.

SRAM Blended Compound Bike Brake Pads

Pictured is our full line of G2 Guide brake pads. Each design features a steel-backed organic pad for powerful braking.

We encourage you to try both compounds to determine what works best for your riding style. Click on the individual brake pads to learn more about their materials.

organic aluminum bike brake pads

Organic/Aluminum Bike Brake Pads

  • Known to be quieter than a metal pad, and have more initial grab.
  • Absorbs and disperses heat better than steel. This is a benefit for those that ride heavy on their brakes.
  • Metal compound is best for riding in dry areas.
  • Shorter wear than metallic-based compound pads.
  • Identified by an “O” printed on the back of brake pad.
organic steel bike brake pads

Organic/Steel Bike Brake Pads

  • Known to be quieter than a metal pad, and have more initial grab.
  • Built from an organic and steel compound.
  • Metal compound is best for riding in dry areas.
  • Identified by an “O” printed on the back of brake pad.
sintered steel bike brake pads

Sintered Steel Bike Brake Pads

  • Best compound for riding in wet weather, i.e. on muddy paths or water crossings.
  • Tends to wear out slower than organic compound pads, depending on riding conditions.
  • If you’re not sure which brake pads are right for you, sintered pads suit the widest array of riding styles and riding conditions.
  • Metallic-based compounds offer more power, more bite, and longer wear.
  • Identified by an “M” printed on the back of brake pad and copper backing plate.

Bike Brake Pad Replacement Instructions

measuring thickness of brake pads

piston spacer

cleaning bike caliper

bike pad replacement

Brake Pad Thickness Check

  • To determine if you need to replace your brake pads, first check their thickness. If they measure less than 3mm, it’s time to replace them.
  • Perform this step monthly to prevent damage to rotor.

Piston Reset

  • Remove wheels from bike, and use a pad spacer to push pistons back into the caliper.
  • This resets the pistons to provide space for the new, thicker pads.

Brake Caliper Inspection

  • Remove circlip with needle nose pliers and the pin with a 2.5mm hex wrench.
  • Remove pads from caliper.
  • Clean caliper using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free towel.

New Bike Pad Replacement

  • Make super the pad spreader spring is properly installed.
  • Install pads into caliper. Install pin through caliper, pads, and spreader. Install circlip. Install pad spacer to ensure pistons are still pushed into caliper.
  • Pull brake lever until contact point feels firm, and reinstall wheel.

Recently upgraded to Guide RSC brakes and they have completely changed my bike and how I can ride technical black diamond trails in Los Angeles.I have used both resin and sintered pads. Resin pads will always have more bite and will be more quiet. The SRAM resin pads are top notch and last much longer than shimano. Shimano resin pads would only last me 3 weeks. The resin pads lasted 6 weeks. The sintered brakes are amazing! Make sure you get the centerline rotors because they’re designed for the guide brakes. The sintered pads make a little noise when they’re hot. But they offer less bite which I like, and will definitely last longer. The sintered brakes will last months compared to the weeks for resin. I highly recommend the sintered if you want them to last longer.Guides are the shiz!!!! If you have upgraditis like me, guides are a great investment into your riding!

I had to change my organic brake pads, so I ordered these as sintered. I was a bit worried as some are describing screaming noises from the brake discs when you go from one to another, but so far this problem has really been at a minimum, and only with cold brakes. Braking is great, but I can tell that the organic pads have a bit more bite to them, which might be an issue in conditions that for my part would be extreme. The pad(s) are of course original, and arrived packed very carefully.I should mention that the seller is a company that provides above-and-beyond customer service. The original parcel was lost, and a second one was shipped – even before I became aware of the problem !

Wow, the sintered pads are much much much better than the stock organic ones that came with my 2017 Bronson C S-Build (Guide RS Brakes). I have been riding a lot downhill parks and I noticed I was wearing through my stock organic pads quickly/ glazing them over getting brake fade. These solved that problem! I read a lot of reviews where people say metallic (sintered) pads are really good at “on/off” with the brakes, but that is NOT true. I think people say that because they are use to applying the pressure they use on the brake lever with organic pads to their new metallic pads and if locks up the brakes. Metallic pads have amazing grip on the rotors, so you can apply less pressure with your finger and modulate the brakes. I have also hear that metallic pads are “louder”, which is caused by water on the pads, or uneven brake wear if your rotor is not centered. So if you fix that, then your silent again. I don’t see any reason to get organic over metallic. Get these you’ll love them. Also, you need to wear them in, so your rotors get embedded or your brakes wont work. Do this for about 10 minutes and you’ll be all set.

I’ve tried off-brand organic pads, and while “cheaper” they tend to be noisy (squeak)…but the SRAM Trail/Guide Organic are always very effective and quiet. Wish they lasted a bit longer. Our rides involve a great deal of long DH segments (3-5 miles), which require more braking than normal (steep grades)…and I can get about 300 miles out of these pads. But, for the quality – it is worth it.

  5. CLord (verified owner)

My girlfriend loves them on her Juliana maverick. They bed easy and work great.

  6. Derick Ag (verified owner)

Great product. Expensive, but you get what you pay for. I installed these on my Giant Advance Trance. I had been riding the old ones for a couple years. These are extremely quiet and stopping power is clearly much better.

  7. John Petit (verified owner)

After bedding and caliper re-alignment they still squeeled. Used Emory clothon the rotors and on the pads, cleaned with alcohol (drank the rest) and that seemedto do the trick. The bike shop mech at the race said SRAM Guide R has a recall, and thatcleaning with genuine Windex (nothing else since off-brands may have other chemicals)can also be done after the Emory cloth treatment. After all that the brakes worked fineat the downhill park. I’m not that experienced a biker so I cannot judge the brakes as well asothers but they work fine for me.

  8. Jason Anderson (verified owner)

Pads worked as intended. Happy with my purchase.

  9. MRB1953 (verified owner)

Works fine. Make sure all 4 of the pistons are retracted when installing the new pads.

  10. Jofo (verified owner)

Replaced my original pads with these. Most important step is the bedding in after installation. Watch the YouTube videos!!! It will save you a lot of headaches. A lot of headaches! Don’t ask me how?

  11. Drew (verified owner)

I’ve been around like them for three years and I am a huge Schram fan. However like most by components the pricing is just getting ridiculous. Recently I bought another offbrand item and I’m very happy with it.

  12. 1GoodDog (verified owner)

No complaints. Nice and sticky. Though I change them very frequently, often at 50%, so I maintain maximum braking performance for hill climbing and descent. Would be nice if they were a little less expensive given how often I change them.

  13. Customer (verified owner)

These squeal like a dying cat the second they get a drop of water on them. They also don’t seem to have as much bite as the organic pads. Considering going back to at least partially organic

  14. Chris (verified owner)

Quick delivery and installed fine! Have a 2019 Canyon Neuron CF8 that works great! Takes longer to take the tire off to install these. No problems!

  15. Hilary Backman (verified owner)

    Works as it should

  16. Bill L (verified owner)

They function exactly as designed. Good value.

  17. Your review is awaiting approval

Hate sram brakes but learned to live with them. They have been reliable (in their sponginess), I’ll give that. These are the best and only pads for RS. Mind you, guide and code have different pads.

  18. bwise (verified owner)

I ordered the wrong brakes. Vendor had me send back and they replaced them with the right ones which work great. I really appreciate this vendor

  19. J. Pham (verified owner)

Second time buying these pads. This time it was much pricier than the other the previous time I purchased them. The pads itself works well. Would give 5 stars if it wasn’t for the inflated price. I wouldn’t have bought them at the higher price but needed them before my race.

  20. Brandt Kock (verified owner)

They work great so far no complaints
