Bought this for a budget build and am not disappointed from that aspect. Better than the mechanical discs they replaced but do not have the power of the higher end versions, not that I was expecting it to. Good for a city bike or light trail riding, would buy again for a low end beater build.

Pros: cheap, slight upgrade from a mechanical disc brakeCons: difficult to install, soft, not a high quality brakeI want to start my review by saying that before getting this brake, I didn’t know a lot about hydraulic brakes except that they were better and firmer than mechanical disc. I bought this brake instead of replacing the pads and cables on my mechanical disc brakes. Installation was a nightmare. The brake cable came way too long and I had to cut it and subsequently rebleed the brake. It was a real pain to cut the brake and then get the new valve placed in the cable. I had to take it to a bike shop and have them put the new valve in because it was so tight in the cable. Then I had to bleed the system because after opening the system, there was air in the system. So I had to buy a shimano bleed kit. After I bled the brakes, they were still pretty soft. I went to a bike shop to try some of their shimano MT 200s that had been professionally bled and they wer

For use as rear brake it’s ok, wouldn’t want this as my front brake. Mainly just need something that isn’t too twitchy to reduce speed in a sketchy quick turn. For that it actually is great since it won’t take off too much speed if I accidentally grab too hard in a panic. Lol. Bonus: Less skidding means better preserved trails y’all.Update: first crash this thing broke right off. In fairness it was a wallop but I’ve never seen “breaking away” like this since the 1979 movie. Ok?And if I may say so it was a feat on my part to complete the 20 miles of technical uphills and downhills with a single speed, hard tail, front braked, steel bike. Heck ya.Next time: going for one pedal also. Ride on!!!

Works well, easy enough to install as is. If you need to thread it through a frame or shorten a line you will need to bleed the lines of air bubbles. Bleeding requires learning how to bleed brakes and some special but not expensive tools. This is a good standard brake for most MTB XC riding.

Title had me believing this was a set. But for the price it makes sense its only one brake and caliper. It works great and feels much better than mechanical disc brakes. if your picky you might not like how long the cable is. And making it shorter is a hassle or a bit of cash at the bike shop.

Exactly what my son needed for his bike.

This was advertised as an assembled kit and clearly it was not. I received two boxes, one with just the brake lever and one with just the caliber. No hose or fluid was included so you need to add the cost of these items plus your time and tools(bleed kit) to actually make it ‘assembled’ as advertised.

They were easy and fun to install. I already had the left, so I went for these since they had dropped in price. maybe it was the brake pads, but they had less power and noisy. The hose is also too long. I didn’t want to mess with it so I returned them, only to find out, that now they cost more. They didn’t have a replace option. I will have to go the used route. Wish me luck.

I have had them for almost a year now and they still work very well.
