Power meteringShelly 2.5 has two integrated precise power meters that allow you to measure the consumption for each channel separately. Based on your monthly limit, it can execute different actions such as turning off the current once your pre-defined limit has been reached. The Shelly app allows you to monitor the status and history, as well as the current and past electrical power consumption. |
Overconsumption and overheating protectionShelly 2.5 has а built-in temperature sensor for overheating protection. If the PCB temperature goes above a danger level, the device will turn off. In case you want to control your consumption and spending, set your preferred daily/monthly energy use, and Shelly 2.5 will turn off the circuit immediately if it detects a higher value. |
Roller modeControlling shutters, garage doors, barriers, or any bi-directional motor has never been easier! Shelly 2.5 can be used as a two-channel relay for lights and appliances control. When placed behind a light switch, Shelly 2.5 allows for the continued manual use of it, as well as remote control. Additionally, Shelly 2.5 can be used in roller shutter mode. |

This product is great. I was really surprised how small it was and having two relays in it. I flashed with tasmota and it was picked up by my Home Assistant right away. I did need to strip new wires for the gpios because a normal Dow pin didn’t fit in. Old telephone wire worked perfectly.

I wired this switch up to control two circuits for Christmas lights. It fit into the double gang box well. My wiring was 12 gauge which is on the large side for the screw terminals but it worked. It was easy to connect to their app and the app seemed to work well. My main goal was to connect it to home assistant so I don’t used the app much. I am using it with home assistant (hass.io) and it works well.

This was the third listing I’d used to buy these Shelly 2.5s. The first two stores sent me the old, non-UL certified version. Since the reason I’m paying extra for these over Sonoff basics is that safety certification, I sent those back. This listing finally sent the correct item.So far the relays work. The app lets you configure them in many ways, and google home sees the relays and can control them. The initial pairing can be awkward, I suggest having physical access to them in case you need to hit the reset switch. After the first pairing they have stayed connected to the network so far. They do fit behind light switches and outlets, but it’s a tight fit. It’s easier if you can put them somewhere with more space, for example above a light fixture. If you want smart switches in an older house with no neutral wire behind the switches these will work since you can place them at the fixture.

Received March 6, 2020. Stop working June 6, 2020. Shelly Tech support is giving me the run around on how I should fix it. That being said, I do have 3 other Shelly’s that work great. This product could be the best smart home device ever if they would replace units with problems. Having the customer try to fix their problem is not good business. I have invested 4 hours trying their fixes. I’m done. It would have saved me time and money to just buy another one, but I refuse to support bad support.

Great little device. Although the wiring is difficult to figure out at first. Home assistant integration is easy too!

I’ve had two of these (Shelly 2.5) now and each time a different screw would not tighten down and NO I didn’t crank down on them. I barely turned and it just kept twisting.

I used this as a relay to control a flood light and an outlet that we had outdoor lights connected to. If the outdoor lights are on the flood light is off. Nice that you don’t get blasted on the face by the food when you’re hanging out on the back yard.

I’ll update after successful replacement, but the box arrived intact – with manuals – and without the Shelly device. Buyer Beware on this one.

You can turn all your switches into smart switches and your landlords will never know. They work and look like regular light switchers. The inputs are really tight. It was hard to get the wires in and you really don’t want an arc. I would go for a higher guage wire next time since these are low wattage led lamps. I used 14 guage.

This is by far the easiest and cheapest way to make your switches smart. If you want to keep your original switches as-is and don’t want to change the exterior look, this is the way to go. I have 2 separate switches for my ceiling fan and it’s light. After installing this, now I can control both of them separately from google home/Alexa. Compare this with any other solution out there, it costs half as much and gives much more control over what you can do.
