Each and every Selle Italia saddle is the fruit of our constant research and development programs. We use detailed scientific studies and millimeter after millimeter, material after material, we work closely with the top doctors and biomechanics scientists to turn out saddles which come one step closer to perfection, which fit any anatomy, and which can meet any possible need of the cyclist.
The great adventure of Selle Italia began just outside of Milan in the village of Corsico in 1897. Selle Italia was originally founded to make saddles for everyday bicycles used for transportation.
Back then, automobiles were unaffordable for most and the bicycle was the transport of choice for many. Fast forward to the late 1970′s. The automobile had long replaced the bicycle as a primary mode of transport and cycling was more for sport than anything.
Today more than ever, research and development come first for Selle Italia. In the past, saddles were produced first and their use was determined later. Today Selle Italia never creates just any product. We make careful research and lab tests, then extensive real-life testing with riders. That’s how perfect saddles are born, and that is why Selle Italia saddles optimize comfort and performance for any rider.
The Bigolin family took over Selle Italia and began an upward trajectory that propelled Selle Italia to the top with continuous product innovation encompassing new construction techniques and using new materials. This innovation and vision has made Selle Italia the acknowledged #1 source for high-end bicycle saddles worldwide.

I received my saddle yesterday and quickly threw it on my Zwift bike for a ride (outdoor bike is in the shop getting a tune up a the moment). My first impressions were “Whoa….this saddle is short.” I think this is my third Selle saddle and I was replacing a stock saddle on the bike I keep set up into my zwift – a giant defy 3.It is most definitely an aggressive saddle. It’s super lite but wide and sturdy where I’d expect. My sit bones nestle perfectly into the seat.Particularly when I am riding inside, I find myself shifting forward and backward at the end of my 60-90 minute rides. That is not an option here because there is no room to go forward (too short). This is not a criticism or a bad thing at all, but worth mentioning if you’re a “wiggler” like I am. You should expect to be relatively static in your position. I’m excited to put this on my “full time” outdoor bike because its a big upgrade to the much cheaper Selle I have on it now. I would love to get this professionally set up and in the perfect position for my body type / ride style.Overall, after one 60 minute ride, I think it was a good purchase. I look forward to spending a lot more hours in this saddle and if anything pops up, I’ll come back to notify the community. I don’t expect any problems though. I did knock off a star for value but that is not because I have an issue with Selle or this saddle in particular…..I just get annoyed that some of these components cost so much. Cycling sure has fully embraced this consumer driven environment we are in (haha).Cheers!

Hard to say anything negative about a well made and good looking saddle as everyone is different. This saddle was simply not for me. First ride was uncomfortable so I waited several days and rode on it again. At that time my butt declared it a no sit zone so I returned it.

This replaced a Selle Royal seat that I came to realize was too wide and too soft. The Royal is a fine seat, but it wasn’t for me.The Selle Italia SLR is sleek and minimalist, but it’s comfortable and most importantly, it doesn’t chafe. There’s a break in/getting used to it period as with many things. Once you do, I’m sure you’ll be happy. I highly recommend this saddle.

The only issue is that the rails are not one piece with the saddle itself, they are kind of just placed and that causes many creaking noises while moving and such.

Purchased to replace stock saddle on 2020 Specialized Roubaix SL4 Sport. Rode this during the Triple Bypass (Evergreen to Vail, CO). Saddle has excellent support and center channel helps protect soft tissue. Zero problems on a ride that featured wind, rain and hail. I find the firm ride is better for longer distances than a more padded saddle, YMMV. One can pay much more and not get the same level of Selle performance

Just trying something new i decided to buy this seat and surprisingly its really comfortable i do like the short nose. The only bad this of this model in my opinion is that i can sometimes hear the plastic squeak. But other than that I love it.

Let me first say if you are not using this seat or a similar style then you are suffering. The seat that came with my bike was a solid cover, flat edges and a bit longer. After in stalling the Selle Italia and setting it up I went on my short route ride. Focusing on my ride I didn’t think about the seat until a few minutes into it that I noticed my usual discomfort was non existence. I will say I had about 70% less discomfort and once in the saddle for 20 minutes I barely had any at all. Well worth the money especially if you can get it on sale.

I weigh 200 lbs (90 kg) and this is the most comfortable saddle I have found so far. I have average sized sit bones, but I have anterior pelvic tilt and that was the key to finding the right saddle. Selle Italia designed this more for anterior pelvic tilt, although it will still work for posterior pelvic tilt. The saddle flexes in all the right spots and it feel like I am sitting right in the sweet spot where my sit bones want to naturally fall. The minimal padding almost becomes meaningless because the shape is so correct.
