I preface all of my battery powered light reviews (and yes, there are several) by admitting I’m a light junkie. I can’t get enough. I saw these and had to buy them.Luci brand is probably the second pioneer into this niche product line with d. light probably being the first (and in my opinion – slightly better although very negligible and VERY dependent on your personal needs).I have several of their “blow up” lights which are absolutely unbeatable for their design to fit in tiny spaces and complete water proof?ness (if not proof – extremely resistant). Bug out bags and boating.. Luci is your champ for sure. This light definitely seems like more of a novelty item than their previous lights because it’s not going to serve a large audience. I’d say those who primitive camp and still desire ambient lighting. So me…. and like 10 other people.. maybe? otherwise.. you’re buying AC powered globe lights for half as much.Pros.1. These do put out a good bit of light. They are brighter than a single LUCI lantern, probably because the light is more dispersed though (since you can stretch it out).2. They are solar powered. This could be a plus over something like the 15 dollar string of battery powered coleman lights (for camping) depending on how you view it. If they take 12-13 hours to recharge.. I’m going to say the colemans are more practical. It would definitely be nice if these (along with all other solar powered electronics) could utilize batteries as an alternate source of power.3. Water resistant. This is where they could separate from the colemans (however those have been left out for months at a time and been somewhat ok).4. could charge another usb device… I dunno.. do one thing.. do it well. don’t try to do 4 things somewhat OK-ly. (in other words you may be better served by carrying a compact light and a slim battery brick because who wants to tear their string lights down to charge their phone?) but it could come in handy if you were out of options.5. Possibly compact. I don’t see myself rolling/unrolling these up to use them at my camp. They’ll probably get unrolled and strung up and left up.. but maybe for your purposes this could be useful.Cons.1. No good/built-in way to mount the solar “panel”. I don’t know.. glue a metal plate to the back.. and mount a bracket to a tree or whatever. Tie them together with a magnet.. That’s the easiest way i see to put it somewhere semi-permanently.2. Cost is somewhat high IMO. There are tons of options in this type of genre that are priced less or offer more features for the same price. This is a 20 dollar device selling at 29 with a VERY fancy box.Overall.I’ll never badmouth a good light and this is no exception. Like I said though.. I think it’s a LITTLE overpriced.. and I don’t see the purpose that it intends to serve other than to feed my addiction for lights. I do like it though and I’m glad I have it.. Although for my perceived purpose of ambient camping lights.. I think the cheaper and more utilitarian coleman lantern string lights are a better or extremely competitive option.1st picture is string lights on medium. 2nd picture is a Ryno Tuff Camping Lantern rated at 150 lumens. The string lights definitely light up the room more even on medium. On high they are far brighter than the other light.

We have used this for a couple years in Scout camping. It gets charged at home, and strung up in a pop-up or larger shelter. This last summer camp we put it in our 12 x 25′ shelter. It has built in hooks which are great. It was strung from the end of the shelter with the base/solar panel hanging from some bungie cord, as long as the string would go, about 1 1/2 picnic tables. The “string” is durable. One Scout decided to use it as a clothes line for his uniform. We normally used it on the lowest setting. At the brightest, it is almost too much light for camping — I always encourage the boys to use minimal or no light where possible and get adapted to the darkness. Except this time we all got stuck under that shelter for hours in a storm. As I mentioned it is charged at home, and hung from some bungie on site. We took no special effort to charge it. It lasted the full week, and must have gotten enough sun during the day because when we packed up, it still had almost a full charge. Impressive, especially after our long evening with the LEDs turned up during the rain storm. If it’s survived two years of Boy Scout camping, it’s a pretty good product. Obviously one wouldn’t take it backpacking, but for car/base camping, it is great.

Well I don’t really even remember buying this product. Must have been one of those half asleep late night browsing moments lol. That being said. I tried to use this product and when I got it out of the box I was immediately disappointed. There are only 10 lights and they are very far apart from each other. The construction seems durable except for the round care the lights wind up around. So the way this gadget works is 1.) twist the top counter clockwise and it pops up revealing the string lights. 2.) unravel the string lights and hang up. That’s pretty much it. However it turns out this gadget can also work as a flashlight and a phone charger. It has a 4 LED light indicator that tells you how much of it is charged up to. 25% 50% etc… you can charge it with solar power or electrically the only 2 problems I have with this gadget is 1.) how far apart the lights are from each other and how long the cord is for just 10 lights. 2.) once you are done and want to

We bought these lights for our camping trip and let me just say it was worth the investment. We did not use any other lights except these and they lit up our area pretty well. Also had a long battery life, and stayed out while it rained and did not get ruined at all. So I say this is a 10/10

These lights are very cool and very bright!!! I like how the cord winds up inside, so it becomes a very compact unit to throw in your camping gear. I haven’t taken them camping yet but I feel like it would be super handy to have them charging during the day with the solar charging capability and then turn them on at night. Super excited to have these as part of my camping gear.

Love this item! The only reason I would give it 4 stars is because the lights are VERY bright. My fiancé and I bought these for our car camping setup, but when we strung them around the inside of the car, even the lowest setting provided very bright lighting (which some may enjoy!). We had hoped the lowest setting would be more of a mood light, ah well. We’ll still be keeping them!

We bought these lights as we like to have some lighting at nightime outside and inside our tent while camping. These light are very bright on the highest setting and are a perfect warm light on the low setting. It’s small for nice storage and lightweight. The solar does take a while to charge which is normal for such a small solar panel but these would charge just fine if you use them overnight while camping then leave it out in some sunshine the next day. Would recommend to anyone looking to brighten up your campsite at night!
