Description

Mirka Dry Guide Coat is a revolutionary new method of applying a powder to make small scratches and holes in primers and filled surfaces visible. The dispensing can with handle eliminates the need for masking. A new layer can be quickly applied at any stage of the sanding process. The system brings great advantages compared to other products such as spray can paint, and in particular the work simplification to be emphasized, with a high quality result at the same time.

This stuff is a must if doing bodywork, i use this stuff like crazy. Put some bodyfiller on, block it out, repeat until you think you have it almost perfect but still just a little more blocking, then put some of this all over the area and finish your blocking. If it all sands off evenly then you got some perfectly straight panels, if you have spots that are still black and the guide coat wasn’t touched then its a low spot that will need more filler, or maybe you start sanding and only a couple spots start immediately sanding down fast then you know those spots are high. This is just a quick easy way to be able to clearly see if there are highs or lows.container works good and is convenient, great stuff

The lid spins as you’re trying to load the pad. Makes it difficult to get a good load up. The guide coat works great though.

    It works fine

Unfortunately it will be a couple of months before I can rate the product because it’s winter time here in Massachusetts and I don’t have a garage to work out of. My plan is to have all products and tools in place when it’s time to do the bodywork and paint.

Gets everywhere (as you would expect). Hard to open container. Must be a trick.

Dry coat is much faster than applying lacquer of some sort, then waiting for it to dry before you can start blocking. With this, you can start immediately which I can see it being a big help in production work.On the flip side, it’s a little expensive though Mirka is a top rated brand. I use Mirka Bulldog sandpaper.. good stuff, but both are kind of expensive for the average DIYer. How long this lasts is to be seen, but hopefully longer than I have a use for.
