Ingredients

Aqueous base: helps penetration of the active ingredient and protects nails from pigments contained in nail polishes. Proflex Complex (balanced blending of keratin, calcium and silky amino acids): fights dehydration and flaking of nails, and restores their flexibility and strength.

I already knew the brand, Mavala, as I used to bite my nails… but that changed after using “Mavala Stop” great product, so i decided to try the Nail Shield because my nails would grow but they would break too easily. The first time I used this Mavala Nail Shield, I did not like it. The reason: it has some kind of microscopic fibers, transparent, that make the surface of the nails uneven even after applying the second coat of the treatment which is supposed to fill the little gaps that those fibers leave. I solved the problem by applying another coat of a nail polisher. Great. Problem solved. The fact is that since I have started using this product, I have not had one single nail broken.. .unbelievable, but true. Mavala is a Swiss brand, and the formula for this nail hardene is outstanding. Do not hesitate to buy it, it is completely worth the price. In the photo of the product, they show the nail hardener (the one that has the microfibers) and the coating, kind of pink. Well, it is not “pink” it a very subtle pinkish, almost natural, that you could even wear without any other color on top. For me, I just put this extra layer of clear enamel, but you can just use it without any other coating on top and you will love it.

I’m pleasantly surprised by Mavala’s Barrier Base Coat. It’s performance as a base coat is mixed. But the bottom line for me is: it helps prevent drying. Since using it I’ve had no surprises when I remove my polish… no new peelies, no new dry spots. That said, this product is not a stand-alone fix. I do many other things to prevent dryness. Rather, it’s the icing on the cake.So here’s its performance mix:What it does.It does indeed help prevent dryingIt prevents staining. It prevents polish from getting under, and discoloring, my peelies. What it doesn’t do.It doesn’t prevent chipping. My manis don’t last any longer with it.I doesn’t strengthen my nails (the product description claims it will strengthen them)It isn’t a stand-alone nail moisturizer. You can’t count on this for all your nail’s moisturizing needs.Initially I balked at the price. But it’s lasting longer than any other base coat I’ve used you only need the thinnest layer. I wipe the brush off on the

My nails do look better with this on, but note it is just shiny enough so that the ridges show just as much as they did before I put it on — because of the shine. Some of the reviews said the result looks like healthy unpolished nails. This just isn’t so. But the problem is not nearly as bad as four or five other ridge fillers I’ve tried and had to give away or throw away.

I purchased 4 different types to try. So far this one is my least favorite. It is sort of tinted… a peachy color. It think it’s supposed to help hide spots or something (?).. but on my finger nail it just looked yellowish – which is weird because it is peachy in the bottle. As a ridge filler it did very little – I would say about a 2 out of 4. Another issue. However, so far, none of them are scoring very high in the ridge filling department. You do need 2 coats at the minimum.

Pleased with this product’s ability to fill my deep vertical ridges. The consistency of the product is thin enough that it pools nicely in the grooves of my nails, which serves very well to even them out. Dries very quickly; by the time I’m done painting one hand, the first finger I painted is already dry to the touch. Product is a lovely peachy pink color that is a good match for the nailbed. It dries sheer and could easily be worn with no other polish over the top. This product looks nice no matter how many coats you apply. 3 coats are required to fill my deep ridges, but you will probably be able to get away with fewer coats. I happily recommend this product.

Good product. Levels ridges in 2-3 coats. My only wish is that it was clear. It goes on like a transparent yellow/brown which may distort polish color and stain natural nail. Otherwise, a 5 star rating.

I’ve ordered this product before thru other online seller. Love the product doesn’t damage nails.

Marvala helped my nails stay healthy and hold polish which I am very happy for. I did have problem getting it off my nails when I removed the polish. It seems my fingernail polish remover doesn’t remove it very well as it more like acrylic sealer or Elmers Glue in consistency. After removing my polish I ended up soaking the Marvala basecoat in water and scraping it off. Maybe I need a different kind of polish remover. The kind of remover I use has acetone, but it’s for strengthening nails.

I took off my gel nails and my natural nails were destroyed. I was so embarrassed of my hands. This polish has a slight peach colored tint and it even disguises the white spots. I really like it.

It’s helped my nails become stronger and my polish stays on better.
