Hats off to those mechanics who were able to install the thermostat. I could not. My car is a 2006 BMW 330i. I tried for hours to install the thermostat and had given up when I went back to the Amazon blog to read the success of others. I tried again, I pushed and pushed, nothing; I lubricated the quick connect fittings with coolant but did not go to the silicone. Just to be sure the hoses were not damaged, I reinstall the factory stainless steel original thermostat. As a next step, I purchased a Duralast thermostat from AutoZone. If that didn’t work I’d go to the dealership and buy the ultra expensive thermostat. It was obvious that the Duralast version was much heavier weight and construction than the Amazon version but also twice as expensive. It was marked “exceeding OEM requirements”. There were no markings on the Amazon version to know its origin or even if it was OEM qualified. It was shipped in a very lightly constructed box with thin bubble wrap. Nothing in the box to note origin or manufacture.I was able to attach the Duralast quick connects in about 20 minutes. You start on the half inch quick connect and you can feel it snap into place. With a little more hand compression strength I worked the 1 inch quick comment into place. The worm gear hose clamps were not a problem. What I noticed on inspection of the three thermostats is that the quick connect surfaces for the Amazon version are rough. The Duralast and factory thermostats have polished smooth surfaces. In conclusion the Duralast thermostat was twice as expensive as the Amazon version but was of heavier construction and had polished surfaced for the quick connect that enabled me to put the thermostat in in about 45 minutes versus hours I wasted time trying to install the Amazon version.I returned my purchase to the seller who was very easy to work and refunded all my money including shipping.I do not work for or affiliated with Duralast or AutoZone.Good luck!

2006 BMW 330iThe thermostat box was not sealed and the thermostat was just sitting inside of it with no additional protection. The sticker on the box said made in Germany. The thermostat went on fine, except the larger plastic hose connection required some KY and super human strength to get on. Note that the OEM supplier is Wahler (as cast on my old thermostat). Your old thermostat may have an aluminum housing, but all the new ones are plastic. The replacement procedure can be found online, but here is a quick summary:- Remove primary skid plate.- Remove forward skid plate (and brackets).- Disconnect power steering hose bracket and zip tie aft.- Disconnect sway bar and zip tie aft. (nut torque 21nm).- Disconnect electrical connectors at the pump and thermostat, clean and tuck away where they won’t get wet.- Disconnect lowest waterpump hose and let drain.- Loosen the hose clamp on the upper waterpump hose, it does not need to be removed yet.- Remove the two wate

Worked great, and to say it fit like a glove would be an understatement.Good luck getting it installed though, I only had ramps and not jack stands when I swapped it. With the tight fit and limited room under the car it was near impossible to get the t-stat and pump reinstalled. I had to remove the radiator fan and intake piping to make it work.A low profile jack of sufficient length to get under the front subframe and rear differential with some jack stands, or a actual car lift/hoist may not have the issues I did. Regardless, expert level tetris skills are required to get the parts up into the area where they belong in the right order, then rotated and re-positioned into place while still leaving enough room to get the water pump’s bolts reinstalled.

Perfect OE fit for a 2008 BMW 328XI with the N51 (3.0 SULEV) engine. Old thermostat was leaking, this one went in and all the hoses fit on like a glove. Definitely recommended! Also, no codes, so I would recommend this unit over the cheaper ones since this has a sensor on the housing that COULD cause PCM codes if a cheap sensor was used. This unit did not throw any codes at all, definitely another plus!

The packaging is questionable as the part comes in a hot-glued shut cardboard box with no additional packaging. The part just flops around in the box, but it’s the real deal.Pry up the end of the hose fittings and squirt in some WD-40 or other liquid lube to help get the fixed hoses off of the OEM thermostat. You can use a pry bar or screw-driver to get the OEM clip hoses off of the OEM thermostat as it has some places you can pry against. The OEM clip-hoses fit SUPER snug onto the replacement. Takes some wiggling and force to put the hose back on. Even with some coolant acting as lube on the gaskets.Cleared my P0128 and the car is back up and running like it should be. 2007 Z4

This is a pain in the butt to install, be prepared to spend a full day doing this job. Remove water pump bolts will make it go a lot faster. Spend 20 dollars and get a set of jack stands you have to get the front of the car off the ground, also get a flexible ratchet extension this also will take hours off the job and save the skin on your knuckles.

Seems well built but does not fit a 2012 BMW 328i F30 like Amazon says. This has an extra port which my car doesn’t us.

Saved lots of money on the aftermarket part. Works just as well as OEM.
