The Hurtta story began with our personal need and desire to protect our dogs from the cold and ever-changing, extreme conditions of the North.

We are from Finland, ”The wild North,” a place known for its pure and exotic nature and unrelenting winters. Originally, we were clothing industry professionals, and we were determined to make functional products for our own dogs while also developing a range of functional dog gear globally.

We’re no strangers to the parks, trails, and training fields that dogs and their owners frequent every day. Our expertise stems from our extensive apparel industry and design experience and the bonds we have forged with other caring dog owners, dog trainers, and dog sport professionals worldwide.

Our love for dogs and our 20-year history are evident in everything we do. We’re always exploring and experimenting, working and reworking, testing and retesting – until our dogs let us know that we got it right.

ordered 45 / 60 for my dog who measured those exactly. and at full extension, couldn’t get it over her head. liked it so much, ordering one 2 sizes bigger.Update : 2 sizes bigger was way too big. Returned, waiting on the one in betweenUpdate : the middle size fits perfectly with some leeway for growth.

I am an 82 year old long time animal protection/rescue/sanctuary provider well known in the national Animal Welfare Community, so for me cost of an animal product is always secondary to quality. Over many years using a wide variety of dog harnesses, I have found that the Hurta harnesses have consistently met my expectations in terms of security, fit and function. To a slightly lesser degree, I have found the Kurgo and Ruffwear harnesses to be more than adequate, depending on type and purpose.I selected the Hurta Week End Warrior harness for my 3 year old rescued black/tan terrier partner. She is a power packed 50 pounds of energy, intelligence and love. However, it is her intense prey drive to hunt small animals that needs to be held in check by a secure harness. Her explosive prey response to small animals has resulted in her slipping loose from both the Ruffwear and Kurgo similar type harnesses. The Hurta has resolved that issue by providing maximum durability with unique engineering designed to prevent your dog from escaping by slipping, twisting or backing out of harness. Hurta’s use of heavier material and wider straps also add to the security offered by this harness. This much improved harness security has allowed me to relax and enjoy my 3 daily walks with my partner, no longer having to always be anxious and prepared to react to small animal encounters and the possibility of the dangers resulting from her slipping the harness.Selecting the right size harness to fit your dog is probably the most frequently stated concern and complaint stated when one reads the numerous consumer questions and reviews. When viewing many hundreds of these reviews, questions and ratings, I learned that this Hurta harness had, by far, the fewest complaints regarding sizing and fit, while having the most positive reviews expressing satisfaction with fit. Now I can be added to the Hurta list of satisfied with size and fit customers. Worth noting that Hurta offers 5 size choices, one more than either ruffwear or kurgo, which may well be the reason Hurta has such favorable size/fit ratings and reviews. My partner is wide in the chest weighing in around 55 pounds. Her measurements; 29″ chest, 16″ neck. I ordered the size range: 24–32 inch. Perfect fit with ample room to lengthen or shorten the 4 adjustable straps. Hurta’s heavier/wider straps, ample padding and functional design also improve both fit and comfort. As far as function is concerned this harness is designed to be very easy to put on and take off. It is also designed and fabricated using very durable materials maximizing comfort strength and durability. All stress points and attachments are secured by special stitching as stated in the Hurta’s Product Description overview. Only use over time can validate some of Hurta’s product claims, but so far so good. I can attest to the functionality regarding leash attachment and ease of control while dog is running, lunging or twisting in the air. All of which I allow my dog to do while leashed so that she can improve mobility and strength given our limitations on free roaming exercise. Hurta has the best reinforced, very large metal D ring leash attachment. Once the leash swivel is attached to the extra large D ring the dog is able to learn and execute very quickly a wide range of maneuvers. Soon I was able to routinely coordinate those maneuvers greatly improving our time on the leash. I use a 20′ lead rope looped to my wrist that I constantly coil and uncoil as I walk and she exercises and explores. You need to know that there is no leash attachment option under the front of this harness, only the one D ring at the top rear. Hurta designed this harness for the active dog to pull, run and change direction while on the leash.More expensive, but well worth the price. Like I say, I never consider cost above my dog partner’s well-being and our shared enjoyment. Hope this review helps some like-minded dog partners.March 13, 2022 Review Update: After 21 months of using this Hurta Weekend Warrior harness, I thought that folks who may have an interest in purchasing a dog harness would appreciate an updated review that considers use, condition and owner satisfaction over time.My dog partner wore the harness each and every day for the past 21 month, two/three daily 1/4 mile brisk walks over moderately rough terrain. I have no choice but to keep her leashed, so she is allowed to pull, lunge and twist while I control her 20′ leash in coordination with her movements. Overtime we both developed these skills enabling us to enjoy vigorous exercise and quality companionship regardless of extreme weather or unexpected perils. The strength, durability and design of this Hurta is essential to the success that my best friend and I are experiencing. The large D ring is the keystone to it all Most important of all, the Hurta has been 100% escape proof. The Hurta harness held up remarkably way better than expected showing no signs of wear and tear that are of concern. Buckle fasteners continue to snap tight and remain secure. All stitching shows no fraying or visible flaws. All strapping remains free of damage and allows for easy adjustment if needed. The padding has shown significant wear as to be expected. Due to the padding issue, for her wearing comfort and change of color, I intend to purchase another Hurta Weekend Warrior asap.

I have a Shepherd dog that escapes from every harness except this one. This harness will last the life of your dog. My last dog had this harness for ten years. I bought another Huerta harness for my new dog. The old one is still in perfect shape if she gets bigger. Throw it in the washing machine often, looks good as new.

Very nice, seems a level above some of the others, but the shape seems a bit off for my dog. He seems to find it comfortable enough and has great movement ability, and the quality seems good so I’m keeping it.A few notes:*I would never use the handle on this to lift him or support him, or do anything more than hold him back temporarily if i needed. Seems solid, but would put immense pressure on my dogs ribs if I used it to lift.*Feels almost like a super lightweight life jacket, with the fabric, the spongy feel, and all the buckles*I’m within the measurements they gave by inches on both sides, but it:• rides higher up towards his neck than I wanted, seems like it could put pressure into his neck which is what i was trying to avoid• and there is a lot of sag in the long chest piece that goes under him. I’ve tightened the neck and chest straps and it doesn’t affect this sag…..And he’s a spaniel and all of his ears and ear fur fill the small neck hole and makes

I really like the color of the green on this. It’s a great harness and it sturdy enough for my very active black lab. My lab is 70lbs and is so I purchased size 24-32 inches. It’s tighter around the neck than some other harnesses I have so just make sure you measure that. I happen to like that it’s snug but comfortable around her neck because she cannot escape so easily by backing out of the harness. The clasps are sturdy but not difficult to engage. It’s nicely padded and very well made as most of the Hurtta products are. I did purchase the matching leash (see photo) which I also like.

I have a Houdini-dog. She has a broad chest and a smaller head and neck, which makes it easy for her to escape her leashes for joy runs around the neighborhood. She’s weaseled her way out of multiple harnesses in her life. She has yet to weasel out of this one and we have been walking in it for months now! It’s soft, doesn’t look like it bothers her, has reflective patches, sturdy, and she can’t drop her head and shoulders to get out of it so far! Love it!

I have basenjis and I ordered the 18-24 size for my young dog with really poor leash manners. He pulls, and worse, lunges at cars, dogs, squirrels, birds, basically anything that moves. I’ve used buckle collars and no-pull front harnesses. All it’s resulted in is frustration. I worry about him hurting himself and he gets a negative experience when he reaches the end of his leash. This harness allows me to walk him without worry and re-train without frustration. The harness itself is well made, sturdy, reflective at night. I liked it so much I ordered two more for my older basenjis who still pull from time to time.

I prefer this harness to the Ruffwear Front Range model. It sits a little further away from the armpits. I wanted this because of the handle for assisting in some technical hikes we did on our road trip. The padding is decent and doesn’t restrict shoulder gait.My girl is 30% pitbull, 17% lab with five additional breeds. She’s a more athletic build and 57lbs.

I have a one year old Great Dane. I can tell when he likes his harness because he stands still waiting for me to put it on. So far Hurtta coats and harnessed are his favorite. We live in Northern Montana and it gets cold. The Winter Expedition Parka (32”) is his favorite coat, paws down; coupled with the Weekend Warrior Harness (XL; 32”) They’re great; made with quality, different closures than all the other jackets and the harness is perfectly paired for bunny chasing!!

Bought a medium for our 38lb goldendoodle. Too tight across the chest. Returned for a large and the large doesn’t fit even when tightened all the way. Horrible quality control. One size should fit.
