I bought my first Merkur Model 38 Hd Classic “Barber Pole” Long Safety Razor a year ago March 9, 2011, and the Feather Hi-Stainless Double edged razor blades. There is no looking back for me now as I am absolutely hooked on this combo for the best shave ever. I bought a second Merkur Razor….just in case.To date I have used 22 blades for a year of shaving. The blades are extremely sharp and a light touch when shaving is mandatory. Some suggestions: I wash my face first with warm water and either Dr. Bronner’s Peppermint Pure Castile Peppermint Soap or Pears Soap.I have been using a shaving brush, mug and shaving soap for years. I have tried just about every brand out there and the Van Der Hagen Aloe Vera & Shea Butter is as good as any for 5 or 6 times the price. I get it at Wal-Mart for a $1.59.I rinse well after I’m finished shaving with cold water, followed by good old fashion Witch Hazel.Rinse your razor in hot, hot water; shake it dry and then dip it in 90% rubbing alcohol to displace the water and to disinfect and sterilize the blade. It is my opinion that the fancy and expensive three and four blade plastic body razor blades hold bacteria because they can’t be rinsed properly and this contributes to razor burn and skin irritations.I give both the razor and the blades a solid five.

Best razor blades on the market! Sharpest and can be smooth as long as you have good technique. Sharp blades are the way to go! At first when I started wet shaving, I didn’t like these blades. They weren’t smooth and I got cut up pretty bad. After my technique got better (took about a year) and I tried it in different razors, this blade hands down is my go to blade now! Works very well in my Merkur 37C slant razor and some of my adjustable razors like a Gillette Fatboy or Rex Ambassador. These are very good for adjustable razors as you can dial the efficiency to make the blade run smooth and still have that super sharpness to them. These blades are authentic. You get the nice sleeved box as pictured and it looks great in a shave den. The wax wrapping has the feather logo on it and the blue color on it isn’t faded. You can tell the seller provides stock that is fresh! Performance with these blades are outstanding for me. I have a very thick beard hair that

These are my favorite! So smooth and close. This is more impressive because I have a thick beard and that is normally where claims fall short. These were recommended to me by multiple barbers that use them for their premium shaves (i.e. those $30 shaves offered at upscale barber shops). I gave a few blades a shot prior to getting these to be fair and still found them to be the best. I ranked my top 3 below based on the ones I have tried (Dorco Red & Prime, Feathers, Derby, Derby Prime, Astra, Shark). On the non-reusable blades, I’ve tried Harry’s, Fusion Pro Glide, Gillette. These blades are by far the best and offer the best value given that they are about $.22 cents each.Top 3 Ranking:1. Feathers2. Dorco Prime3. Dorco Reds

As a barber, whether my client is getting a traditional shave or a standard appointment – 9/10 there is a razor involved with my service. Most of the time it’s the usual beard lineup or general edge up, regardless of the situation they’ve all led me down the path of razor testing, buying, trying, the whole 9 as far as going down the path of “what’s the sharpest, most consistent blade”. I can tell you, bar none, this razor takes the cake. I just can’t justify using a lesser edge on my customers despite the vast amounts of money that could be saved using a different brand. As a consumer, this is a no brainer because you can get multiple shaves out of the same razor. As a professional, being that we have to (or at least, supposed to) change the blades out for each client. That can prove to be pretty pricey for this razor so considering your P&L’s, maybe save this investment for when you’re through a couple of price changes. All in all, again, this is by far the sharpest and most consistent blade on the market in its category.

This is the BEST DOUBLE-EDGE blade on the market. No other blade is as sharp, long lasting and leaves my face bumpless and as soft as a baby’s buttocks. They will whisk away the toughest beards and I have one that grows every way imaginable. Be careful when you use them because they are sharper than a surgeon’s scalpel. You may want to invest in liquid stiptic. Lastly, you cannot beat the price, especially compared to my throat cutters. BTW, be sure to use a good pre-shave oil.

I have been using these blades for years and have been very happy with them. I use them in a Merkur adjustable razor around the setting 3, (1-5).

  7. Mark Daniels (verified owner)

It is true. This is the sharpest sharp.

These are excellent razors. I prefer these over the Gillette Silver Blue which I will have far less nicks and cuts. These are sharp (as all razors are) so make sure to use what your skin is use to. Personally I didn’t want to give review just so these will stay in stock if you catch my drift.

I have been using the Feather Razor and blades for many years. The blades and razors are HIGH QUALITY. My face and beautiful BALD HEAD have never had issues with razor bumps OR nicks!Feather is an appropriate brand name. You only need to use a light touch – not a LOT of pressure against your skin to get a really close shave; hence, no razor bumps OR nicks.

These are my favorite blades for my safety razor. They’re very sharp and I Get probably four good shaves out of one blade.
