Problem: Soft Tissue PainExcessive pressure on the sensitive areas of the hands result in numb fingers. |
Solution: Soft Tissue ComfortWith an anatomically optimized design, Ergon grips offer 100% contact with the hand surface area, versus traditional round grips, offer only 60% contact. |
Problem: Nerve PainExcessive curvature of the wrist leads to undesired kinks in the carpal tunnel nerve. This results in a burning pain in the hand or forearm. |
Solution: Nerve ReliefBy correcting the hand position, the carpal tunnel nerve is relieved and pain is eliminated. |

Unfortunately, what I received from Amazon was the incorrect model, and had to return it. But, I found the GP1 locally, for less than Amazon’s price, and have been using them for a few weeks now. Prior to these grips, I was getting numb in my ring and pinky fingers on both hands, far worse on my left (as I still have lingering nerve damage from a 2007 injury). The grips themselves were easy enough to install, but as of yet I have not installed the end caps, as they are way too snug for the (standard sized) handlebar and don’t even go in all the way. I am leaving them off for the time being, while I decide on a bike mirror. But still, these could be easier to work with.Adjusting the correct angle takes some trial and error, and even now I am not sure I have it done right. I now get numbness in the thumbs rather than the other fingers. Yet, my wrists are now at a more correct angle, and overall it is a more comfortable riding experience with these grips. I ordered

German engineered grips. I got the large ones for better palm placement. I had the Specialized ergonomic palm grips too but they keep slipping and the palm grip is not that wide or deep as this is. This allows for a locking end piece and once its locked Its not coming off! Its amazing how you were able to bike without all these little comforts before.!

I had been feeling a bit of numbness in my hands when riding. Admittedly, I have not been riding that long, so I can’t say for sure that my old grips were the cause. Anyway, when I got these, I was surprised to discover that they had almost the identical dimensions and shape of the grips that came on my bike (a 2016 Giant FastRoad CoMax 1). The padding pattern is somewhat different and a little softer on these, but not substantially so. I read the instructions and installed them accordingly. No problems. However, based on the instructions, I noticed that my original grips were adjusted (by the bike shop) with the palm pads turned much further down. As soon as I got on my bike I could feel the improvement. My palms felt supported. Given the angle the shop installed the originals, I’m not sure I ever made use of the palm pads. Or, if I did, it clearly required my wrists to be bent significantly. So, I went out for a 10 mile ride. I soon realized that my shifters ne

I bought these for a 20 day tour I did on my touring bicycle. The rubberized palm rest area is sufficient to give you a substantial benefit to alleviate those numb hands you can get when riding for hours. They were very easy to install. Here is how you do it!: To remove the existing grips, get yourself something like the diameter of a wire coat hanger. Slip the rod you have under the grip and push it in until you get resistance. Then, spray or pour just a little bit of water, yes water into the area that you are making with the rod. Do that a few times around the grip pushing the rod a little bit each time. No need to use oil or anything that you would have to clean up afterwards. You will be able to twist off the old grip in one piece. Then, to put these on, simply wet ever so slightly the inside of the Ergon with water and slip them on the bar. Adjust the angle as to how you think you will like them and tighten the allen nut that you see on the end of the grip

This is the 3rd set of these I have purchased. They are well made and make bike riding so much more comfortable. However, my last set I had to replace as the top rubber deteriorated over time to become very sticky. Do not know if it reacted to sunlight – or what – but they became totally unusable as they felt like there was layer of glue on top to which my bike gloves would stick. But lacking any better competitor I bought another set, and hope to get a few years out of these before they too get sticky. For the price would have hoped they would have been made of a higher grade of rubber.

I installed these on my mountain bike last week and have put around 30 miles on it since then. Prior to these i had just the basic rubber grips and my hands were going numb about half way through this 10 mile ride. My goal was to get grips that turned my wrists more in line with my arms vs the slight angle of just the rubber grips and was thinking that would help with numbness. After getting them i was a little skeptical that they would accomplish this but they did. The are better than i expected, it’s great to have a larger surface to hang on to and rest your palms on, and they straightened my wrists. Be sure and take an allen wrench with you on your first ride to adjust. I had to stop and move them slightly downward two times before they really felt perfect. Cruising they were great and under power pulling up the grade they felt great. I did have to adjust my shifters inward about 1/4″ because my hands are moved in slightly. I didn’t realize on my old grips that i was actually hanging my pinky off the end because they were uncomfortable. Install is easy, be sure to loosen the bolt and they slide right on, it’s tightening the bolt that holds them in place so they are not like a traditional grip where you use rubbing alcohol or water to push the grip on the bar. These slide on easy and after I tightened the bolt they felt secure and no movement. I bought the large, I am about 6′ tall with hands that are average size.

Excellent grips, I’ve been using a normal round grip for years on my fat bike but after returning to it after two years off due to injury, my left hand had a lot of problems with the wrist and nerves on both sides. I bought both a more swept handlebar and these grips and changing these grips first I’m not sure I will even bother to install the new bars, they make that much difference to comfort. Two hour+ rides are no problem now. I am using the Large version and for my hands (8.5″ around, 8.5″ finger length) with winter gloves and lobster claw mitts they do not feel large at all. Possibly for summer use without gloves things might be different but for winter I would not be deterred from the large version based on what some reviews say, the diameter is not particularly large.

I wanted to replace the cushy silicone grips on my Trek FX3, and I bought these Ergon grips after reading a few reviews (but not carefully enough apparently) and seeing them on Amazon. I had discovered during the course of constantly attempting to put on rubber gloves during the pandemic that I have large hands, so I bought the large size Ergon grips. They are very large, and although they fit me just fine, I think I could have made do with the smaller grips. The stock handlebars on the Trek FX series are Satellite Isozone handlebars, and the Ergon grips won’t fit on them. Only OEM Bontrager grips will fit, and even then, only one specific type of grip will fit. I wasted a morning trying to shoehorn these grips into place unsuccessfully before giving up and taking it to my LBS, which sold me a standard mountain biking handlebar (so I could swap out the grips with off the shelf grips in the future I suppose). Now that I have them installed, I like them. I have them a

One thing I did like about this set is that they do not cup the heel of the palm the way some other brands do, which makes them a better for for all hand sizes. However, there were some features I didn’t care for. The clamp is on the outside. That means it doesn’t tighten down well if the handlebar doesn’t go all the way to the end, which means you may need to move your brakes and shifters inward to firmly secure this grip set. Another thing I don’t like about the outside clamps is that your palm rests on them. They stick up above the rubber once pressure is applied, creating a pressure point in the worst possible place. They are also much colder to the touch than the rubber which I did notice in the cooler spring weather. These are OK but I am still searching for my forever grips.Update 5/21/21 – I originally rated these 3 stars after my first short session with them but after using these for a month I have lowered my rating to one star. They simply will not fast

Prior to installing these handlebar grips, my hands were getting numb after about 45 minutes or riding. After installation, it got significantly improved. I had to play with installation angle to get to the optimum (4 trials). Once there, the numbness is pretty much gone. I recommend this product to anyone with the same issue.I had to cut about 1/2″ on the left grip since I had a mirror installed on the left side and needed it to fit on the handlebar correctly. But that didn’t interfere in any way with the grip’s main functionality.
