Some folks swear by these. Others say that they’re a waste of money and not worth the time. It works, but I’m not sure it’s that much better than strapping on an old worn out tire and spinning on that. I’ll post my experiences and let you decide.- It’s slightly quieter than road tires, probably due to the complete lack of tread. It will not make your trainer whisper quiet, nor will it make your trainer as quiet as a direct drive trainre like the Wahoo KickR.- It grips MUCH better than certain tires (Michelin Pro Race) but not really any better than others (Conti GP4000s) Less annoying squeaking is nice.- It went on my wheels easily. Others have had trouble, but I had absolutely none. Maybe I’m just accustomed to tough Conti tires. I don’t know.- It is SUPER durable on the trainer compared to other tires. If you don’t have old bike tires laying around and you don’t want to waste your good road ones, this tire is probably a good move.

1st time using a folding tire. Given other reviews, expected a knock down drag out to get it on. Happily, however, it was a piece of cake to install. Normally use 700 x 28C(clincher) Continental Gatorskins on my road bike. As 28mm was not available, purchased the 25mm tire. Tried it out today on my ” Travel Trac Comp Fluid Trainer ” (also here on Amazon). Very quiet & smooth “ride”. Use 700 x 28-32 thorn-resistant tubes on the road. Installed regular (non-thorn-resistant (not as thick)) Continental 42mm Presta Valve Tube, Black, 700 x 20-25cc to be sure tube would fit on the smaller tire. It did. After ~ 40″ moderate ride (not aggressive), tire was not warm. Do run a fan directed @ the back end when riding as fluid trainers can run hot – keep the tire cool as well.Happy camper thus far…. (not least of all b/c I don’t have to brave the cold and dark to get a ride in…)

Been using this tire for a little over 2 months now, and have put about 300 miles on it. That’s not much for the time period, but I’ve only started using it after torn meniscus surgery, and it’s been a slow recovery. I have to say that the tire has performed well since the start. I purchased it (700 x 32mm) as a ‘used-very good’ item from the Warehouse, and so far, it has been living up to the Continental brand name.Easy to install; I have a 23mm wide rim that normally seats a 40c tire, and this fit perfectly. Noise level is surprisingly low while on the trainer; I expected louder. I can be peddling in the same room with the family watching TV, and they don’t have to turn up the volume any louder than they normally would.Tire looked in good shape for the advertised condition. It actually looked unused and really just like old stock. Construction seems pretty good, and it appears like it would hold up for many miles to come. Will have to put some more hundreds of miles on it to see if/when it starts to break down. All in all, so far it seems like a good buy.

Great tire! Bought this tire for my Computrainer, had used the Cyclops Yellow tire last season. Overall, am very pleased with the Continental trainer tire, very quiet, no black “tire dust”, great traction tire to trainer. Compared to the Cyclops, I feel like the Continental is a more rugged tire. I would think that one would one that for a trainer. Also, I’d say that the Continental tire is a bit quieter than the Cyclops…but both are good for noise. Other point is that I got the 32mm size tire, since I decided to put a hybrid on the trainer this season. So, given it’s a bigger surface area on the trainer, that the noise is so minimal I believe says a lot about this tire. I could be wrong on whether the tire size makes a difference or not for noise, but the net is that this is a very quiet, high traction, well made tire.

I’ve always used Continental tires and love them, so I jumped at the great price Amazon had on this tire. The Continental Hometrainer tire is usually considerably more expensive than the Tacx or Vitorrio, so I figured I couldn’t go wrong.I’ve been using old road tires and the last one (a Felt Speed 700×25) lasted all of last winter and half of this one. Recently it began shedding rubber bits and developed a slight burning rubber odor, and since I’m out of worn tires, I bought this my first dedicated trainer tire.I installed the tire this afternoon and was quite surprised at the immediate rubber burning odor, but figured it would go away as the tire wore in a bit. It was so strong, my sister came from the other end of the house wondering what was burning. It’s really quite obnoxious. It is much worse than the old tire that didn’t start smelling until it’s last few sessions. The tire installed easily, and I inflated it to 105 PSI as recommended by Tacx, and well und

I got this because it was the fattest trainer tire I could find for my rim and it was significantly thinner than the tires I bought the bike with. It still fit the .75 ID of the rim and when fully aired up it is actually a nice profile. I don’t ever intend to do any actualy dirt riding with my dirt bike since I’m just an old fat guy that needs exercise so it really helped me decide to buy similar sized street tires for my bike so I can ride more in the warm months. Oh, it works really well and very quiet on the trainer I have.I have seen some people destroy their trainer tires on trainers and I have a tip that might save a lot of grief. I adjust the force on the trainer only to the point that it does not slip and no further. I work a lot in industry and the thing I find most infuriating is the amount of force people tighten things to the point of breaking them when it’s not called for and more damaging than secure. Just enough is the right amount. Don’t torque it

I’ve been using this trainer tire for nearly a full winter season now, paired with a Tacx Flow smart trainer. I’ve used trainer-specific tires from other brands in the past, and the Hometrainer is by far the quietest one of the bunch! It’s softer than many of the more plasticky tires you’ll find from Vittoria, Tacx, or Kinetic, but hasn’t shown any signs of excess wear or shedding of rubber beyond the first time I used it. I can’t speak for multi-season longevity yet, but I’d expect this to last me several years if the wear rate stays the same.My only gripe is the same with every Continental tire – I am utterly convinced that Continental under-sizes their tires to get a tighter fit. This isn’t as hard to fit as a stiffer trainer specific tire, but I absolutely had to use tire levers and some brute force to get it on my wheel.Overall, I’m really pleased and will be recommending this as my new go-to trainer tire!

I bought this tire because it was less expensive than the other trainer-specific tires on the market, and I’m very pleased with the functionality of it. One of the keys to keeping a tire from wearing out too quickly on a trainer is to maintain proper tire pressure as well as the proper fit against the roller. Just a tiny bit too loose, and you’ll start getting rubber “dust” piling up under the flywheel. This means that even though your tire is in tight contact with the flywheel, it’s still not tight enough, and is slipping a bit, resulting in the residue. I check my pressure regularly, and if I feel the slightest slip, I tighten the knob just a tiny bit until it stops. Because I do this, I’ve had no issues with tire wear, and it grips perfectly. I’ve put a few thousand miles on it this past season, and it still have plenty of the center bead left… in fact, it’s hard to tell it’s been used. Overall, I’m very happy with this tire, and will buy another one before next season, just to have it as a backup, even though I think I’ll have plenty of tread left. Solid Conny tire, exactly what I’d expect in terms of quality, and so far, I’ve gotten more miles out of it than I normally do on my Conny road tires. My only complaint is the bead. Getting a new 23 on a rim has always been a bit of a struggle, and I punched holes in two old tubes before finally getting enough stretch to slip it over the rim. In 30 years of cycling, this is the toughest tire I’ve ever tried to mount. Be patient, work slowly, allow the bead to stretch a bit, and you should be fine.

I recently bought a smart trainer and put a spare bike on it. It had Gatorskins on which cost $70 each. They are also quite noisy on the trainer because of the grip. Then I discovered (thanks GCN) there are tires made especially for trainers, like this one. I chose Continental because I trust them on the road. This tire costs a lot less and has very thick rubber where it meets the trainer. It also has no grip. This means it should twice as long and it definitely runs more quietly. The sidewalls are very thin which is why it is not safe to use this on the road.If you are using the same bike for the trainer and outdoors, this would not be a good solution because you’d have to keep switching the tires. If you have a dedicated trainer bike, like me, this is a great solution.1. Save money2. Replace the tire less frequently3. Quieter workout
