I bought this to fit on an old Linn K9 cartridge as a back up in case of problems with a goldring 1042 cartridge which was showing it’s age. After bending the Goldring stylus whilst clumsily removing it , an expensive accident ! But it probably did me a favour as an old cartridge starts to sound overly bright and distorted I fitted the K9 with an ATN95 E stylus to an Akito arm on a Linn Sondek. It’s fairly straight forward but make sure you note the colour codes of the four wires going in to the cartridge and follow the same for the new cartridge. I would advise using tweezers to remove the contacts from the cartridge and don’t hold it by the wires as you will pull it off the contacts. Also invest in a stylus protractor and a stylus balance if funds permit which make the job much easier and quicker. I did the job in under half an hour and was spinning vinyl again. I set the tracking weight to 2g but somewhere in between 1.5 g and 2.5 g is specified. The sound i

I initially bought the Audio Technic ATN95E cartridge to equip a newly refurbished Rega Planar 3 with an RB202 arm and 24v motor. Having spent aroubd £500 all in I didn’t have a great deal left in my budget. Research online showed that this was a tried and tested budget favourite and my thinking was that l’d use this until I had enough money for an Ortofon or a Rega item. 3 years on I am still impressed with the sound and have just replaced the styles after several hundred hours of play. Purists may choose to follow the instructions and replace after 300 hours, but to be honest , I replaced when I noticed a deterioration in the sound of some of my older records.I would say that this is good value, if like me you don’t buy all your records brand new in polythene, then this stylus can be viewed as a consumable item which gets replaced as and when.

I recently bought one of these on ebay that was not in an audio technica box and the needle sounded disordered, hissy and skipped a lot. So I decided to buy one on here and pay a little extra. I’m so glad I did. As soon as I played the record, no surface noise pops, no distortion, no hiss and no skips. It sounded so crisp and clear. Ill never buy one on ebay again. Buy from the source and pay a little extra. Its worth it.

I briefly switched to an Ortofon because of the hype around them. That thing was harsh and just sounded way to powerful on my turntable. I went back to my audio technica and so glad I did. This is the third stylus I’ve bought for this head and it always impresses me.

Sounds great, easy to install. Still makes Radiohead records sound horrible, guess that wasn’t my previous stylus’ fault.

Easy to install and sounds great. Its a little expensive compared to other stylusses available. But i guess thats the only one which fits here.

The ATN95E. Is always been a great stylus and cartridge fit almost every turn table. I first had one years and years back. good all around sound good price never had a problem with them damaging any records. Also know a lot of people who use the ATN95E also going back years. I keep one as a back up or daily play. I just got a new cartridge and stylus. And I have a cupple AT Head shells. that you can get for$15 some times cheaper. that I put different cartridges on for quick swaps. Even if you have huge budget and love your highend cartridge set up awesome ? I still feel I doesn’t hurt to have one around. And if your budget is tight this is a great cartridge and stylus easy install I’d recommend it I think one of the most important things on budget turn table is that you can remove the head shell or at least be able to switch cartridge for up grades
