CARE AND USE
Be good to your knives and they’ll be good to you. Following these simple guidelines will ensure that you get the longest life out of your knife!

CLEANING
Victorinox Swiss Army recommends washing all knives by hand. For best results, hand wash your knives with a soapy cloth and dry immediately.
While Fibrox Pro knives are dishwasher safe, we recommend hand washing as dishwashers are designed to spray water at a relatively high pressure, which can jostle the silverware and cause the knives to collide, dulling the edge.

SHARPENING
For optimum performance, knives should be honed after every couple of uses. Proper and frequent use of a honing steel will keep your knives sharper and performing at their best.

FORMERLY FORSCHNER
In 1937 Victorinox began selling cutlery in America through a Connecticut distributor called R.H. Forschner & Co. A well-known manufacturer of butcher scales, Forschner soon became the exclusive U.S. distributor for Victorinox knives, and was the name by which Victorinox knives were known.

About Us

In 1884, Karl Elsener opened his cutler’s workshop in Ibach-Schwyz. At this time Switzerland was still one of the poorer countries in Europe. In the early years Karl Elsener worked to combat poverty and unemployment in the Schwyz basin, creating jobs and helping stem the flow of emigration.

In 1891 he supplied the soldier’s knife to the Swiss Army for the first time. He went on to develop the Swiss Officer’s and Sports Knife – now the iconic Swiss Army Knife – in 1897, creating the foundation for a flourishing company that would be able to hold its own on the world stage.

Today, Victorinox is a global company with five product categories: Swiss Army Knives, Household and Professional Knives, Watches, Travel Gear and Fragrances. The Swiss Army Knife is the core product and has a pioneering role in the development of all product categories.

I am not a super chef, but am a bit of a knife fan who of late has been doing TONS of research on knives, kitchen and otherwise.I am going to start with the one annoying thing, and it is a very common annoying thing. The packaging is the gawd-awful plastic clam shell. I hate it to the deepest core of my blacken soul. In the name of all that is decent could the manufacturer please just put it in a lil cardboard box that is easy to open. Please…Now the good…First impression: pretty, the rosewood handle is quite nice with a lovely wood grain. The blade is shiny and mirror like at high angles, a very dull mirror like straight on. Decent amount of weight, but not feather light, which I like. The feel of the handle is fantastic. I am not a petite fellow, and normally wear large to xlarge gloves, for whatever that means, and the handle felt great in my hand. Full, good width and length. Just felt great. I could wax poetic on the fullness of hand and supple curves

The knife is great. Perfect for the price. I loved it. I used it once and it was sharp right out of the packaging (heavy plastic, like you might see electronics come in). So the knife gets five stars. I’ll probably buy more variations by the company in the future. Good work. Here’s the problem. The knife (through no fault of mine, and not at all a reflection of the knifes quality) was broken the day after first use by a drunken family member. The tip snapped after they did something stupid. After realizing they owed me a new knife, they asked me to send them a link so they could replace it. I sent them the Amazon link where I originally purchased and they sent me a screenshot showing that the purchase was made from the link sent. Problem solved. When I received the replacement in the mail I was pretty disappointed. Instead of coming in the hard plastic packaging from the manufacturer it was wrapped in a taped up loose cellophane like product. No hard plastic from t

This feels too tall, both the blade and handle and the blade feels too thick. But this cuts well enough when sharpened occasionally and I don’t need to wipe it down every time or worry about rust, so that’s a major plus.Edit: months later the overall impression is that this gets dull rather quick. I have to sharpen every other week it feels like whereas my old Japanese budget chef knife is more of a once every 2 months kinda thing.

My husband loves the knife this is second one he has gotten.

I wish the scales fit better but otherwise this is an excellent chef’s knife

I am an amateur home cook but have used a few different knives from Zwilling and Wusthof and this is better than both. Easy to sharpen on a wetstone and stays razor sharp.

I have to start by saying, I don’t get attached to household tools, but this thing… wow. Out of the box it aced the popular paper test with no problem. When I went to cut up an apple for my kids, I was amazed how it slid through the fruit with almost no pressure. I was cutting wafer-thin slices, the likes of which I didn’t know were possible. It’s been a month since I bought the knife and outside of a few small dings in it, it’s still cutting fruit and veggies like a champ. I’m able to cut ridiculously thin carrot strips and mince garlic, onions, and peppers like a pro. It’s turned our Hello Fresh meals into an absolute joy to make.Long story short: Life’s too short to use dull kitchen knives. I didn’t know it was possible to get emotional about a kitchen knife, but here we are. I should have bought this so much sooner.
