Our EXO+ construction combines two of our best puncture protection materials: SilkShield and EXO. The SilkShield layer runs from bead-to-bead with a layer of EXO along the sidewalls. Combined, these two materials create EXO+ which improves tread puncture protection by 27%; sidewall durability by 51%; and resistance to pinch flats by 28%
- Tubeless Ready
Tubeless tires provide the rider with many benefits: the ability to run lower air pressures, which improves traction; lower rolling resistance when compared to a tube-type tire; and less chance of flatting since there is no tube. Liquid sealants should only be used in the following types of tires: Tubeless Road, Tubular, and Tubeless Ready. The use of liquid sealants in any other Maxxis tire will void the warranty

Wide Trail (WT) construction optimizes the tyre’s tread layout and profile on today’s modern, wider rims. Traditional tyres are designed around older, narrower rims and can create an overly square tyre profile, leading to less than optimal performance. WT tires are optimized for a 35mm inner rim width but are proven to work over a range from 30-35mm inner rim widths, depending on the rider’s preference

I bought a Maxxis Assegai 2.6 MaxTerra as a replacement rear tire after watching hours of tire review videos on YouTube, comparing at least twenty different tires. It’s definitely not the budget choice. It’s a replacement for the rear tire that my 29” Enduro bike came with when I bought it a year ago. The bike originally came with a Maxxis Aggressor, which despite its name, didn’t impress me as very aggressive. I found it slid around way too much, especially at lower pressures. Maybe the name means it was for ‘aggressive’ riders who want a tire for a showy and aggressive riding style… I could actually feel the tire sidewalls deforming sometimes, especially at low pressures, and after a bit of use it stopped maintaining tubeless pressure well before the tread showed even that much wear, due to micro cuts and punctures that would leak sealant slowly. I ride in very dry conditions all year round, with a combination of loose sand and rock and sharp edg

I love this tire – paired with a DHR II on the rear, I’ve found the combination I can’t imagine wanting to change in the foreseeable future.I feel more confidence with my bike; my braking is reduced in frequency and intensity, and my descents are quicker.

Having had dual agressors which I have worn out (non exo+ and I didn’t run tubeless).I decided to go dual Assegai – the first that hits you is cornering.. it is simply insane, you have so much agility and response that you are able to go on a super advanced obstacle course at speed.Yes the rolling resistance is more noticeable, but the grip is above average going downhill on losepac.The tyre hates mud however and becomes somewhat sloppy and a little dangerous.On the wet tarmac – plenty of grip but not a glued on feeling, this is a hardpac first tyre.Going tubeless was a doddle, great fit on my rims, no issues , nice and tight – used a tyre lever.The exo+ is decent, a few hundred miles, no punctures to speak of – definitely go tubeless with this tyre.

the diameter of the 29″ runs a little small. I have to use 3 tire irons, put powder on it, etc and still I have pinched two brand new tubes putting this on. I have owned several maxxis before, even on this bike and never had this issue.
