Care Tips for Swiss Army Knives
The various tools of a swiss army knife are manufactured from high-quality steel with precisely tuned features that are essential for the particular application. The steel is tempered, annealed and polished to achieve the necessary hardness and provide optimum resistance to corrosion. With it’s unique build Swiss Army Knives require easy but particular care. Use the recommendations below to keep your knife at it’s peak functionality.
- SHARPENING: Use a whetstone at an angle of 15°– 20°. This will result in a cutting angle of 30°– 40°. If sharpening on a grinding wheel, cool with plenty of water to avoid excessive temperatures.
- CLEANING: Open and close the blades in warm water several times. When they have dried it is recommended to apply a small drop of oil between the blade, tool shank and the spring or locking mechanism.
- WARNING: Never put Swiss Army Knives in the dishwasher.
- RECOMMENDATION: Swiss Army Knife Oil (Item No.4.3301). FEATURES: (1) neutral odor and taste, (2) highly resistant to aging, (3) good wear and corrosion protection qualities, and (4) Food safe

This is a very impressive knife, the quality of the fit and finish of this knife is beyond any knife maker here in the US. Right out of the box, the blade is razor sharp. Knife locks very tight and snaps like an alligator when you close it. A big knife, not too heavy for its size. Nice pocket clip and also has a nice paracord with it as well. Great price with this knife, with the craftsmanship of it you would think it would cost hundreds more. I was so impressed by Victorinox that I have ordered two more. You cannot go wrong with the Victorinox Hunter Pro Alox

I have to admit that I would have preferred the red alox handles of the two-handed opening version, to the silver alox of this one-handed knife. That aside, this is a great knife. Well made, solid build, reasonably sharp edge out of the box. I like the fact that Victorinox doesn’t use an ultra-hard steel on the blade – I much prefer the well balanced steel they use here — it holds an edge well, does not chip easily, and is fairly easy to sharpen. I also like that this Swiss Army knife only has a blade, and not a half dozen other tools!I will be using this knife on a regular day-to-day basis, at home and in the field, for a long time.

I’m a huge fan of Victorinox Alox knives. I recently got one of these. It is great! I love the blade hole for easy one-handed opening.This is a big knife. It is a heavy knife. Unlike the smaller Alox Swiss Army knives available, this model has stainless steel liners in addition to the aluminum handle scales. The stainless steel liners are not drilled out for weight relief (a lot of knives from other brands will do this), and the effect is a knife that is very heavy. Really, too heavy for EDC (everyday carry). I mostly bought it to collect anyway, so this isn’t really a dealbreaker for me.I also love that it has a pocket clip which none of my other Victorinox knives have. Great addition.Comes with the paracord lanyard which increases the cost and I really have no use for, so I wish it wasn’t included.

This is not your grandpa’s Swiss Army Knife. The version I purchased has the one-handed opening cut-out similar to Spyderco knives. The blade is 3.75′ and opens with a smooth action using only the thumb. The textured aluminum handles provide a good grip without being aggressive for easy retrieval from the pocket, also with a deep carry pocket clip and artistically done braided lanyard. The fit and finish are superb, even the inside of the knife handle is polished to perfection. The finger grooves give a good grip while working the blade in tough material. It has a scandi grind with micro-bevel and came razor sharp out of the box. This knife is built to last a lifetime and with proper care and maintenance would make a nice heirloom to hand down to an outdoor enthusiast’s son or daughter.

Disappointed in the factory edge although for how large it is with the pocket clip it fits smoother than smaller knives. Most definitely not a whip out of pocket and flip open knife very hard to open with one hand
