Apparently I suck at sharpening chain saw blades. However, that is not the fault of the filing kit. It’s me. I’m just terrible at it.The kit is nice. It’s steel, wood handles, got a nice carrying kit, etc.Just don’t ask me to do it, if you want your blade to actually cut anything.

This was a great buy. I usually carry 4-5 chains with me, and as they get dull just swap them out. At the end of the work day I sharpen them all with the grinding wheel. I was skeptical that a hand file would actually help, but it really did! With each tank of gas, I use the round file and guide 10 times per tooth, then the flat file on the depth gauge 5 times per tooth. It honestly sharpens the chains better than the grinder, and doesn’t scorch them at all to boot. The negatives:The file handle feels a bit weak. It started to bend a bit after the 2nd use, and not I just have to be careful not to apply too much lateral pressure . Also, the little device that works as a gauge for the depth gauge file was hard to figure out and I ended up never using it. I just eyeball the depth and it works well for me. Lastly, the case holds the tools securely, but does not roll up very well or secure closed easily. It became easier for me to jsut leave the tools loose in the chai

My fiancé bought me a Stihl chainsaw for Father’s Day and what better way to keep true to the brand. I bought this kit to sharpen the saw and right away I was pleased by not only the quality, but how Stihl goes the extra mile for it’s customers. The kit comes in a high visibility orange color pouch and the kit also has a extra pocket to keep the instructions handy. The kit also has a external strap that can be detach and clipped to your belt. Over all, a great buy at a decent price.

Its Stihl, what can I say. The guide makes sharpening the saw correctly MUCH easier for an amateur such as I. You need a vice to hold the saw to get the most benefit from the guide.

Nice kit to have with my gear.

Nice combo of needed 13/64″ round file and correct file holder also including a flat raker file and guide for Stihl 3/8″ chain. Overpriced, but hard to find the needed chain file holder in this size used mainly by Stihl. The canvas cover is beautiful but may not be needed. Works well and both files are durable.

Outstanding filing system for your Stihl chainsaw. Very easy to use, even for a beginner! I highly recommend this file if you sharpen your own saw chains. I also have the 2 in 1 Stihl sharpener, however this one is nice if you just want to touch up the chisel when taking down the rake isn’t needed.

It’s a good kit, I like Oregon’s better but they both do the same thing

amazing size kit. As it is small enough to travel with you. Definitely worth the money and I would recommend it to everyone.

Works great. Good reference marks to keep file angle in correct position
