CARE AND USE
Be good to your knives and they’ll be good to you. Following these simple guidelines will ensure that you get the longest life out of your knife!

CLEANING
Victorinox Swiss Army recommends washing all knives by hand. For best results, hand wash your knives with a soapy cloth and dry immediately.
While Fibrox Pro knives are dishwasher safe, we recommend hand washing as dishwashers are designed to spray water at a relatively high pressure, which can jostle the silverware and cause the knives to collide, dulling the edge.

SHARPENING
For optimum performance, knives should be honed after every couple of uses. Proper and frequent use of a honing steel will keep your knives sharper and performing at their best.

FORMERLY FORSCHNER
In 1937 Victorinox began selling cutlery in America through a Connecticut distributor called R.H. Forschner & Co. A well-known manufacturer of butcher scales, Forschner soon became the exclusive U.S. distributor for Victorinox knives, and was the name by which Victorinox knives were known.

About Victorinox

In 1884, Karl Elsener opened his cutler’s workshop in Ibach-Schwyz. At this time Switzerland was still one of the poorer countries in Europe. In the early years Karl Elsener worked to combat poverty and unemployment in the Schwyz basin, creating jobs and helping stem the flow of emigration.

In 1891 he supplied the soldier’s knife to the Swiss Army for the first time. He went on to develop the Swiss Officer’s and Sports Knife – now the iconic Swiss Army Knife – in 1897, creating the foundation for a flourishing company that would be able to hold its own on the world stage.

From then on, his spirit of solidarity, deep roots in the region and strong commitment to solid values shaped the Victorinox company philosophy.

Today, Victorinox is a global company with five product categories: Swiss Army Knives, Household and Professional Knives, Watches, Travel Gear and Fragrances. The Swiss Army Knife is the core product and has a pioneering role in the development of all product categories

This is indeed easy to use and does a decent job pretty fast. It really did a good job sharpening my Victorinox kitchen knives. I then took out an old cheap brand butcher knife I use for odd jobs and it even sharpened that pretty well. I have rheumatoid disease and quite a lot of arthritis in my hands, so my dexterity & strength are limited, but I had no trouble using this.

Figure out the amount of pressure you need to apply and it sharpens your knives well. I used it on my set of Victorinox Kitchen Knives. My knives are back to passing the paper cutting test.

Works great, however unless you are extremely stable with your grip I strongly recommend you wear protective gloves. I accidentally turned my hand just a little bit and sliced through my thumb and halfway through my tendon requiring full-on surgery with a pin inside my thumb for 6 weeks. I now never use it without the cut proof gloves. Be better safe than sorry! I would recommend to the maker to make one that sits on the counter somehow to be safer.

    it’s great

    There are better sharpeners.

Great Sharpener for Swiss Army narrow blades, narrow Steak and pairing knives. Press hard and too much steel is removed from the blade. Suggest pressing lightly (a light grinding sound), inspect for sharpness and uniformity on both sides of the blade. Lightly oil sharpened Edge and wipe off excess. This is not for ALL knife blades – narrow blades that require a 20-degree angle, only. For $20, a great deal!

  7. Abi (verified owner)

I was looking for something to sharpen knives quickly and easily during butchering. This was suggested to me and I have since suggested it to many people. Also considering it as a Christmas gift for some family members. Does the job quickly and well.

For $35 this is a big piece of plastic with a very small effective sharpening area. It seemed to work well for a couple months, but now does nothing for the same knives I was using before. Perhaps I’m using it wrong (now). but I get better edges from a cheap Ikea sharpener

  9. Debra (verified owner)

Easy to use. Keep my kitchen knives sharp
