Bought these after trying the Irwin vise grip interchangeable snap ring pliers. There is a world of difference in quality of these versus the Irwin’s. Worked immediately for barbell snap ring removal where the Irwin’s chipped and never worked for the task.

These pliers work so much better then the two piece convertible pliers. When using the 2 piece set the snap rings were very difficult to remove due to the non rigid hinge. The pliers always twisted causing the snap ring to flex and either not come out or spring off the pliers tips and fly across the shop then the pliers would lock up and you would have to separate the pliers halves to reset them to use again. This set gets the snap ring out on the first try.

This worked well taking out the rings on a several Rogue Ohio bars.The only thing I wish this had are various grooves on the inside edges of easy tip to help grip the ring. That way the tips would not have to stick as far through the ring when reinstalling.

Over the years, I have used a lot of value priced snap ring pliers. They are not worth wasting your money on. Snap ring pliers actually need to be made very exactly in order to work well. And if they don’t work well they can be extremely frustrating and actually damage metal parts oh, not to mention being dangerous with flying Springs. Knipex always work, assuming you have purchased the correct size. I no longer waste any money on anything but Knipex snap ring pliers. Just bite the bullet and purchase knipex from the start. These WORK.
