Compact size – great quality
The Knipex 87 01 150 Cobra with a length of 150 mm is one of the small models of Cobra water pump pliers from Knipex. Despite this, its gripping capacity is a proud 30 mm. The benefits of working with these water pump pliers are plain to see. They are compact, light and stable, can be positioned on the component quickly and are self-locking, e.g. on pipes and nuts.
Because of its compact size, it is particularly suitable when out and about. It also reaches poorly accessible components and grips without slipping. Despite this, it achieves a gripping capacity for pipes with a diameter of up to 1 1/4 inches or 32 mm and for nuts up to a wrench opening of 30 mm. Thanks to the 11-fold fine adjustment, the Cobra can be ideally adjusted to different sizes of the component.
Compact, tough and strong
We forge the Knipex Cobra from chrome vanadium steel and use a multiple stage hardening process to give it the ideal balance between hardness and toughness. This makes it extremely durable. To achieve a lasting secure ‘bite’ on the work component, we use high-frequency current to bring the gripping teeth to a hardness of approx. 61 HRC.

I’ve had this Knipex pliers for a few months now (6 months) and i gotta say they are amazing. I’ve used them almost daily at my job and my home doing household chores. The quality and strength of these pliers are great, I’ve put them through so much use and shows little wear. So quick story, I lost these pliers in a snowstorm when I was helping someone put tire chains in a parking lot. And wasn’t able to find them for 3 weeks due to the snow not letting up and also waiting till the snow melted to find them. And sure enough, they were still there! I took a picture of them and picked them back up to clean and are still working great to this day. One modification I did to make this easier to carry is add a belt clip to it. I ordered one off Amazon (CIVIVI Deep Carry Pocket Clip pack of 2) for only 5$ and screwed it to where the small bolt that holds the button is, was a bit tricky and made sure to use locktight or thread sealer. No need for a carry pouch or anythin

I have every pair they make. Best water pump pliers I’ve evet used. Bite the hardest with the least ammount of effort. They’ve spoiled me; now I’m filled with disgust and frustration when using channelocks or other brands.The xs fits in my coin pocket; the jaws are more useful than any leatherman I’ve used and they dissapear in the pocket.The 22″ XXL fits on 2″ unions at work with plenty of room so spare. They’re a third of the weight of the 36″ pipe wrench I used to use.If you were on the fence, I hoped I pushed you over. I’ve not once regreted buying cobras.

Expensive is my first thought. Very useful tool is my second. Would I buy it again? Yes. There are cheaper options that work as well. Love the fact that it slips into your pocket and is very convenient to have with you when it is needed. Just don’t lose it.

I work as a intrument technician ,i have to work in very tight spaces and most of the time i cant put my hands around the tool the right way. having this tool that locks it self and is ergonomic and well made is a god send. Tried cheaper brands with locking mechanism ,they didnt last a long.
