Seriously, it is just a knob attached to the top of the shift lever, how much of a difference can it make? I have a 1997 e36 BMW M3 and my factory shift knob was very worn out and needed replacement. I searched here on Amazon and found the BMW ZHP Weighted Shift Knob had high reviews. I decided to give it a shot and ordered one up. I put the new ZHP knob on the day that it arrived and could NOT believe how great it felt. Instead of vague and non-distinct shifts, my shifts were now clean, crisp and on the money. Really? All this from just a weighted shift knob? Yeah…I am not kidding. This little ole shift knob is now one of my favorite upgrades on my entire car.

I wish I would of bought this earlier. I had a crappy metal shift knob that got super hot in the summer but I did not want to fork out the $60 for this knob. Once I did though it felt amazing and I instantly regretted not buying it earlier.

I replaced the broken shift knob on a 1997 BMW Z3 and I should have bought this years ago. I love the shorter throw (the knob is shorter than the simulated wood one that I replaced) as well as the feel of the leather. A VERY VERY nice shift knob that looks better and feels better than the stock unit. Absolutely no regrets on this choice.

Believe the reviews. This has a really great feel and shortens the shift distance nicely. Easy to install. It took about 6 days to arrive and that is the only negative comment I can say. Also I would add that if your boot also needs changed, do both at the same. You can find a nice boot with the m style re and blue stripes that matches this knob reàlly well.

Excellent shift knob. It’s a great addition to my car. It definitely makes shifting a lot smoother. I installed it on my 97 e36 328i and I would recommend it to anyone looking to have a nice buttery shifter feeling in their car. It looks great feels great!

Feels great in my hand. Heavier than OEM 1998 M3 knob. For the price of most aftermarket knobs this one is nice and OEM M. Sits slightly lower than the OEM knob so thats a nice bonus if you like that feel.

A bit on the pricey side, however this shift feels great. Super smooth texture and weighted nicely. Didn’t realize how much of a difference a weighted shift knob can make. Really improves the driving experience significantly.

I winced at the price when I purchased this, but I was tired of the tall, light-weight, and pealing fake wood shifter in my 3 series. I am extremely happy with the purchase. This shifter has great throw weight, shortens the shift action, feels great, and looks good. Made my sports sedan feel both sportier and more luxurious. Clean and preserve the leather periodically from your secreting hands and this should last.
